Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

When were names of places first established? Like, in what century? I am most interested in just the names of villages & townlands that make up parishes. When were they first named?

I think most places have always have had names of some kind, even if only decriptive (Dugn Linn), however there was a concerted effort in I think the 17th century to name everywhere and this is where many of the Anglicisations came from. They were later used in the first set of Ordnace Survey maps.
