Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Disease in 1950s Ireland

    Hello,

I'm wondering if someone can help me. I'm looking for information for a piece of short fiction on common diseases in Ireland in the 1950's. Tuberculosis springs to mind but I'm looking for a disease whose symptoms are more subtle and potentially curable if acted on quickly enough. Also not a disease that is solely linked to poverty.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

Alcoholism ? Might be worth looking up .

It may have crossed the class divide but large % would most likley have being with the poor .

My Left Foot springs to mind but it was hardly a disease and it was the 60's?

    I never did read it.
