Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

We're looking at an old cottage in wicklow on a fifth of an acre. The problem is the old tank isn't up to standard and is actually on someone else's field. We've talked to the neighbouring farmer about buying half an acre of his in an adjacent field for a new tank and he's agreed in principal but id like to know if there's any alternative sewage treatment systems that meet requirements and work on 0.2 acre in case that falls through.

    Any thoughts?

you need a percolation test to see if you can actually have a septic tank. otherwise you are looking at more expensive treatment systems. quite difficult to have conditions for a tank nowadays.

Is there a wayleave coming with the cottage to provide access to the existing tank ?
Is it the same landowner you are talking to ?
    Some guidance here:

Have you checked with the council as to their policy re standards and if planning permission is required (I assume it is)
    More info here from WCC:

I believe septic tanks are no longer acceptable and need to be a package treatment plant.
Treatment plants are most superior to septic tanks and therefore sites can be smaller in certain circumstances.
I trust an engineer acting on your behalf has brought this up.
