Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I see the old Liveline thread has exceeded capacity, so taking the liberty of starting a new thread with title based on popular suggestion!

    EDITED, 24.05.21.

Please read the forum charter as it applies to personal abuse.

Some latitude has traditionally been given in this thread, but even this is qualified. There is a limit. Excessive, derogatory personal insults and epithets are beyond the pale.

Please keep it as civil as possible, or at least desist from casting groundless aspersions — especially on members of the public. People have the right to a good name.

Please keep it lighthearted, enjoy the thread, and don't go overboard with the insults. Thanks — A.L.N.M.!

I was going to suggest Liveline: Men on Pause for the next thread.

It still had life in it well exceeding its capacity to reproduce itself, so it went on radio.

Driving towards Galway from Tipp yesterday was overtaken by a few of those loons. Forcing oncoming traffic onto the hard shoulder. Donut marks on the M17.

Dylan, at only eighty, is much too young for such a special.

I think Ronan is treating us to the Dylan special today. Joe will wait until Bob pops his clogs which is years away as he's still only 80.

Long covid got an extended run before and we will be hearing about it for years and years to come, a bottomless pit of sickness for rte talk shows. The general consensus of the thread was that very very very very very talkative people are more likely to suffer from long coivd, suspect to be at great risk due to their love of yapping

Yeah! I recall several of them telling us they couldn't catch their breath as they speed-talked us through their shortage of lung capacity :pac:

I remember in March 2020 in Namibia when I caught a lung infection of some nature, and O2 sat dropped to 82%, I really could NOT talk in a sentence.

It seems a common symptom of long covid is the urge to talk incessantly about it. It truly is a horrible illness.

The housing crisis not getting a mention is a bit strange too. Maybe it isn't as big a deal as the government is making out coz this is a caller driven show and the callers don't seem to want to talk about it.

The Jag must be missing the long drives. Sticking it into D and crawling behind a procession heading towards Glasnevin just isn't the same, is it?

Unless a caller has a housing problem and long covid at the same time

And then if it coincides with the men-on-pause it causes massive uncontrollable verbal diarrhoea which only volumes of intravenous sound-bytes can replace.

When Joe describes it as a caller-driven show, I think what happens is Joe rings the producer around 10am and says "I want to talk about blah today, line up a few people ready to go on air at 1.45".

"I'm outraged Joe. There should be a warning on the tattoo machine saying like "If you have no artistic skills, you have no business using this device".

    Or

"I'm outraged Joe. My 14 year old son bought this on eBay. Im outraged the DPD courier didnt check his ID before giving it to him".
