Why would anyone give away good tips.

Did anyone get the tip doing the rounds on WhatsApp last night called Meet and Greet in the 3pm race at punchestown apparently from a work rider for trainer Ollie mckiernan I think.Anyway the horse was backed in to near even money fav from around 10/1 last night only to drift back out during the day to about 3/1 before the off.The strange thing was another horse All about Joe was backed heavily throughout the day into favourite going off at 6/4 from a much bigger price only to get out fought on the line after getting his nose in front briefly in the final few strides by an 80/1 shot debutant.A few things to think about here was the first tip circulated on WhatsApp a ploy to get a better price on the 2nd placed horse ? Something very fishy about the whole thing if so I’m kind of glad it got done by the 80/1 shot.I know some lads that backed meet and greet at 8s and when it shortened to near evens they where offered decent cash out profits on their bets so I suppose I’m asking is did someone try to manipulate the betting by circulating this WhatsApp message to either get better odds on the 2nd placed horse that nearly won I suppose no one could account for the first timer 80/1 shot or to get a profit from cashing out on large bets placed at high prices when the WhatsApp tip shortened is this going to become a thing people using social media to try manipulate prices ?Sorry if I’m ruining the thread but I didn’t know where else to post this it seemed like the most aptly named thread .

Got it a couple of times, they definitely planned that, unlucky not to come off, meet and greet was out the back from flagfall in a maiden hurdle, he definitely wasn't trying to win!

But that’s the thing we’re they unlucky they obviously duped loads of people into backing a horse who either never had a chance of winning or wasn’t trying to win I’m kind of glad the second placed horse got done in the final strides serves them right if you ask me .

I don’t mind the bookies getting done but conning the average joe that’s my problem. I have no problem backing a tip and if it loses I would never hold it against the person that gave the tip if it was given in good faith but now not only are we up against the bookies but we have to contend with these kind of rogues aswell .I know race fixing has been going on since the dawn of time but using social media to get punters to pile on a non trier is ****ing lower than low if you ask me .

I’m not sore about losing a few bob on a WhatsApp tip to be honest I had more money on the Mullins horse who looked to be the form horse and one to beat in the race I was more disappointed in how that horse ran.My gripe is that people who where in the know conned god knows how many poor punters in to backing a lame duck it’s hard enough to pick a winner without that bull**** .

Anyway the only people that profited on that race were the bookies and hopefully the connections of the 80/1 shot filled their boots.
