    back to 4th as expected.

Huge pressure on the javelin now, the Spanaird should come out of it a little ahead of Kate and swiss girl and brit should drop back to 4th.

(she needs to be 5mts to get ahead of the swiss (she should do this) , 15 ahead of the brit (again this should be fine) but 14 on the Spanaird.)

SB (2.17) is just ahead of the swiss, 2secs on the brit and 5 on the spainard.

Her PB is from 2017 2.15

    1sec is about 14pointish

holy ffook, the spainard improves her pb by 5m in the javelin. Kate will have to throw 50m and then beat her by 5sec in the 800, all within her capabilities!

    Sexton eases through in 200m

swiss has just thrown 48m, buts her about .1sec ahead

  • Registered Users Posts: 933 ✭✭✭jamule

she wil start the 800m in 3rd 1 sec down on the swiss and spanaird. She has the beaten of them! (2.22 will give 6k+points, should be more like 6100!)

Would be good to see him go out on a high this summer. Pity couldn't keep him in the sport.

Patterson has an odd stride. Looks like she's overstriding, but she's the fastest qualifier for the final.

O'Connor and Sexton looking good for medals.

Miller is a shoe in for gold but the silver is there for the taking.

Kate pulled out a fantastic javelin throw in the first round. Delivering when needed! Pity her long jump wasn't a tad bit better and she would be in the lead. But 6k points is nothing to laugh about shes an unreal all round athlete.

Oh the nerves are kicking in now. This heptathlon is going to be SO close.

Silver. Couldn't have done much more with Vicente clicking a 6 sec PB

  • Registered Users Posts: 669 ✭✭✭karkar athlete

Wow she gave it everything - the Spaniard didn't go down without a fight. Positives is that Kate has room to improve too!

    BBC1.

    Mageaan so-so in the 1500m. 11th place in 4:03.70.

4th fastest ever 1500m and first time she has ran 2 sub 4.04 in same season let alone in the space of 8 days. I imagine things have changed in terms as approach after Monaco as well and back in training prepping for Doha after securing time for Tokyo. Also it's her 3rd race in 3 weeks so I don't think it's necessarily a bad result.

Bit of a side note but good to see Tiernan with a PB in the 5000m. Irish connection here with Marcus O Sullivan coaching the Australian athlete. Doesn't get alot of recognition but the number of Irish coaches abroad coaching some of the best in the world (Bro Colm with Rhonex Kipruto, Ray Treacy with Molly Huddle and Emily Sisson, John Coughlan with Su Bingtian and Tianna Bartoletta)

    Don't forget Mick Byrne!

Unfortunate for both Davicia and Aaron both coming 4th. Pity neither of them got SB which would have medal-ed however 3 rounds over the past couple of days would have been tough. Also for Sommer with a 5th place finish.

Completely, only reason I didn't mention him with the rest is was stressing the pro side and these athletes making individual choices as opposed to college choices and the coaching relationship being set but should be noted he also had a runner in today's 5k with 13.18.

Strong head wind also today (think Sexton's reading was -1.7) ran a great bend but just tied up a little
