Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shelter line stretching 'round the corner
Welcome to the new world order
Families sleeping in the cars in the southwest
No home, no job, no peace, no rest

Bruce the ghost of tom joad

My fave song lyrics ever are "The River" by Bruce Springsteen. Basically every line is a belter but "Is a dream a lie if it don't come true" always struck me particularly hard.

Fast Car written and sung by Tracy Chapman.
If things aren't working out just get out and go somewhere, 'anyplace is better'.

    You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
    Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
    Anyplace is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
    Maybe we'll make something
Me, myself I got nothing to prove

    You're a bum
    You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
    You scumbag, you maggot
    You cheap lousy fàggot
    Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last.

Simon and Garfunkle had some good lyrics in their time. Their song "America" always leaves me feeling reflective.
Let us be lovers, we'll marry our fortunes together
I've got some real estate here in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner's pies
And we walked off to look for America

Cathy, I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
Michigan seems like a dream to me now
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America

Laughing on the bus, playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said, be careful, his bowtie is really a camera
Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenery
    She read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field

Cathy, I'm lost, I said though I knew she was sleeping
And I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all come to look for America
All come to look for America
All come to look for America

And I Got You to paint the roses on my grave

Liverpool FC could drop "you'll never walk alone" for

When I was young my heart was young then too
Anything that it would tell me
That's the thing that I would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life's
The thing that I can't win
