Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pet Microchip Database Shutdown - Check your chip

Got 2 dogs about 2 years ago and both were microchipped, one with Animark and the other with Animal Guard.
Recently decided to check their microchips on europetnet.com to confirm they were registered and the animal guard one showed up as having no record.
So I got in touch with Animal Guard and got back the below reply.

Thank you for contacting us .,

We no longer provide a Pet Recovery Database service as the company (PetNET) we used to register our microchip numbers with recently closed down due to the new legislation " microchipping of dogs act ".

Registrations in Ireland and Northern Ireland must be completed with one of the approved database providers , such as Animark, Fido or the IKC. Forms can be obtained from them to register your pets as all applications are been accepted. Alternativately you can get your pet registered in any Veterinary practice or by a Certified Microchip Implanter. A Veterinary practice will only charge the Registration fee to do this.

If you are based in the UK or across Europe registrations can be completed with database provider " smarttrace " , Or any Veterinary Practice.

Also please note if your Pet is registered with the Irish Kennel Club or English Kennel Club this will act as a Pet Recovery Database.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

So it turns out they have shut down and my dog is no longer on any register, there was no notification of this which I find quite annoying.
But my main point of posting here is to give a heads up to others to check if their dogs (or other pets for that matter) microchips are correctly registered.
