Long hasn't signed up as far as I know.

You'd hope all these players signing up for next year would be a good indication he's sticking around though.

Most important person we can sign for next season!

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭BOHtox

Paddy Kavanagh signed up too. The first attack-minded player signed for next year. Great having about a third of the squad signed up already. You'd imagine this is an indication Long will sign back.

    Squad:
    Supple
    Cornwall
    O'Hora
    Brennan
    Sule
    Kavanagh

More good news as Detser and Dano Byrne have signed back too

Another big bit of business for The Big Club with Dinny signing a new two year deal. That brings the total so far to 9. A very, very solid 9.
    Signed:
    Shane Supple
    Derek Pender
    Rob Cornwall
    Warren O'Hora
    Dan Byrne
    Paddy Kavanagh
    Fuad Sule
    Oscar Brennan
    Dinny Corcoran

    Players not signed:
    Colin McCabe
    Greg Murray
    Dylan Hayes
    Ian Morris
    Lorcan Fitzgerald
    Eoin Wearen
    Keith Ward
    Phillip Gannon
    Izzy Akinade

The players in bold I'd like to hang on to. We released Dylan Hayes last year and re-signed him in early March or so when we realised we couldn't get anyone better. Same goes for this year. If a better option comes up then great but it wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't.

We really really need a decent left back

Think Ian Morris is a great player, he was so unlucky with injury at Northampton. Was well thought of there too.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭BOHtox

Yeah I think he's a very good player. Can play in the middle or at left back and he's doing very good work with the youth structure at the club too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 333 ✭✭Alfa Quadrifoglio

Dinny Corcoran resigning for Bohs for two years is a huge boost, good for a dozen plus goals per season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭BOHtox

Young Jamie hamilton signs back too. Only 18, scored on the last game of the season last year and he looked very decent. Quick left mid who can whip in a cross.

    Shane Supple
    Derek Pender
    Rob Cornwall
    Warren O'Hora
    Dan Byrne
    Paddy Kavanagh
    Fuad Sule
    Oscar Brennan
    Jamie Hamilton
    Dinny Corcoran

Squad up to ten now too.

John Ross Wilson, Paddy Kirk and Dan Casey both sign back for next year bring the total number of players up to 13. Wilson and Hamilton were great in the last game of last season. Wilson got forward loads and Hamilton looked a real threat on the wing when he came on. Kirk is a left back and was captain of the 19s last year, who won their league, so he could see some game time this year.

    Squad up to 13:
    Shane Supple GK

    Derek Pender RB/LB
    John Ross Wilson RB
    Rob Cornwall CB/RB
    Dan Casey CB/RB
    Warren O'Hora CB
    Dan Byrne CB/CM
    Paddy kirk LB

    Paddy Kavanagh RM/LM
    Fuad Sule CM
    Oscar Brennan CM
    Jamie Hamilton LM

    Dinny Corcoran ST

On the forum it says we're talking to Mark Quigley. Mother of God, why? With Izzy looking like he's going South to either Cork or Limerick we need a striker though. I'd still like to re-sign Morris, Wearen and Ward to complete the centre mids. Their all versatile players too. Then a striker or two, winger, left back and sub goalkeeper to finish the squad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Akinade gone to Waterford. Hope Dinny kicks on without him.

Lunney signs from Pats and Wardy re-signs as well as two others from the 19s. Bit more info on the players in the article linked. Up to 17 now.

    Squad:
    Shane Supple GK

    Derek Pender RB/LB
    John Ross Wilson RB
    Rob Cornwall CB/RB
    Dan Casey CB/RB
    Warren O'Hora CB
    Dan Byrne CB/CM
    Paddy kirk LB

    Paddy Kavanagh RM/LM
    Fuad Sule CM
    Keith Ward CM/LM/RM
    Oscar Brennan CM
    JJ Lunney CM/LM?
    Eoghan Morgan CM
    Jamie Hamilton LM

    Dinny Corcoran ST
    Cristian Magerusan ST

Morris, Wearen, Poynton, a sub goalie and a striker and we're probably finished.

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,229 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

Colin McCabe in as sub goalie.

Not sure we'll see Poyton back, seemed to fall right out of favour the second half of the season.

Would like to see a senior left back come in, and let Kirk play as deputy to him.

Another striker is needed, no idea what this Magerusan guy is like.

Happy with the team though, we've the most important players form last year still with us.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Ian Morris, Philly Gannon and Colin McCabe have re-signed. Kevin Devanney signs from Galway too. Some good business done. Devanney gives us real penetration down the wings and Morris that bit of experience and versatility in midfield and defence.

    http://bohemianfc.com/?p=11786

    Squad:
    Shane Supple GK
    Colin McCabe GK

    Derek Pender RB/LB
    John Ross Wilson RB
    Rob Cornwall CB/RB
    Dan Casey CB/RB
    Warren O'Hora CB
    Dan Byrne CB/CM
    Paddy kirk LB

    Paddy Kavanagh RM/LM
    Fuad Sule CM
    Keith Ward CM/LM/RM
    Ian Morris CM/LM/LB/CB
    Oscar Brennan CM/ CB
    Philly Gannon CM
    JJ Lunney CM/LM?
    Eoghan Morgan CM
    Jamie Hamilton LM
    Kevin Devaney LM/RM

    Dinny Corcoran ST
    Cristian Magerusan ST

Still no Wearen. Wearen and a striker and that's probably it. Maybe an out and out left back too.

We're linked to a few of the Bray lads who'd be decent signings too.

I was impressed with Devaney in his first spell at Bohs, was disappointed to see him go. Good signing in my opinion.

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,229 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

I always found him a bit inconsistent, a lot of his best performances seemed to come off the bench where his pace could trouble tired defenders.

Hopefully Long can get the best out of him.

Any chance Bucko will be coming back & any news on Wearan? I suspect we don’t have the budget for both?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,965 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Wearen was out with the PFAI team. Bucko very vocal about leaving Bray so far ha - hopefully he could end up with the team he supports and not Bohs :D

Bucko is still under contract with Bray though. I'd take Wearen over him.

Bray's contracts were breached last season no with no payment? If so, he can rip his contract up.

You can't be contracted to a club that doesn't exist either.

Two more added. Karl Moore returns http://bohemianfc.com/?p=11854
    And Ryan Swan signs http://bohemianfc.com/?p=11850

    Squad:
    Shane Supple GK
    Colin McCabe GK

    Derek Pender RB/LB
    John Ross Wilson RB
    Rob Cornwall CB/RB
    Dan Casey CB/RB
    Warren O'Hora CB
    Dan Byrne CB/CM
    Paddy kirk LB

    Paddy Kavanagh RM/LM
    Fuad Sule CM
    Keith Ward CM/LM/RM
    Ian Morris CM/LM/LB/CB
    Oscar Brennan CM/ CB
    Philly Gannon CM
    JJ Lunney CM/LM?
    Eoghan Morgan CM
    Jamie Hamilton LM
    Kevin Devaney LM/RM
    Karl Moore LM/RM/LB

    Dinny Corcoran ST
    Cristian Magerusan ST
    Ryan Swan ST

Very decent squad put together. Be interesting to see if he signs a few more.
Two left footed players sign which should add a good balance to the team. I know we had Fitzgerald and O'Connor last year but they were both bit-part players and didn't feature much.

So I think the signings look something like this
    Ins:
    JJ Lunney (Pats)
    Kevin Devanney (Galway)
    Karl Moore (Bray)
    Ryan Swan (Cabinteely)

    Outs:
    Lorcan Fitzgerald (Released)
Eoin Wearen ((Released so far, may still sign back)
    Ciaran O'Connor (Loan expired)
    keith Dalton (Released)
    Georgie Poynton (Loan expired)
    Ismahil Akinade (Waterford)
    Dylan Hayes (Released)
    Greg Murray (Released)

Any ideas where (if anywhere) Greg Murray has ended up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭BOHtox

Haven't a clue where Murray is sorry, Gav

Anyway one in one out with Fudzer off to Barnet and Darragh Leahy arriving from Coventry. Fudzer should be more than capable at that level. You'd fancy many LOI sides fancying their chances against Barnet. But it's a full time wage and playing in London so you can't blame the kid.

If Wearen signs I'd be happy enough. I see Paddy Madden left Scunthorpe for Fleetwood yesterday, I take it we're not due anything in sell on fees?

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,229 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

Great to get a lb in, been a weak position for us for years.

Unless O'Hora goes I'd say we're finished and I'm quite happy with the squad in that case.

really mixed emotions about him coming back, really didn't like his tweet.

all money from the sule deal went into it.

does this mean no wearen then?

Good to see him back but if it was a choice between him and Wearen then a fully fit Wearen does give you more. Both of them and I’ll be delighted

No significant amount was paid to Bray.

Exactly. Don't think we'd be silly enough to pay a big fee when we still have debts of our own. I'd say the fee was nominal

    Shane Supple GK
    Colin McCabe GK

    Derek Pender RB/LB
    John Ross Wilson RB
    Rob Cornwall CB/RB
    Dan Casey CB/RB
    Warren O'Hora CB

    Ryan Swan ST

    Greg Murray (Released)
    Fuad Sule (Barnet)

I'll do a squad comparison closer to the season because I think we've improved quite a bit since last year. Jamie Doyle and Kaleem Simon are nowhere near as good as Lunney, Moore or Devanney for instance.

Can't agree with that statement. I like Wearen but there's no comparison. Buckley full of passion, not afraid to get stuck in and better engine.

Buckley was POTY in 2016 & Wearen is not reliable because of injury.

No real comparison. Buckley is a great signing.

Cautious expectations, I'd say we will be in around the same position as 2017, But yes its one season I am really looking forward to, the buzz has been coming back the last couple of seasons.

Cork should run away with it with Dundalk second but don’t see why we can’t compete with Rovers, Pats and Derry for third, or is that unrealistic?

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 23,229 Mod ✭✭✭✭GLaDOS

We'd probably need a fair chunk of luck with injuries to have any chance of competing for those positions. If any of Dinny, Ward, Supple or Pender get injured we'd be struggling imo.

Not overly convinced they will,it will be a close one again between them and Dundalk!

The 4 games will be tougher, if we got 5th and made a decent push for 4th I'd be happy enough but we need to be realistic with expectations!
