Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

    Has anyone got a bone graft to get new implants.(Relacing old implants).

    How did you get on?

    Bone grafting varies a lot between people. Someone may have small graft and someone else might have a big one, the two people will have wildly different experiences not really translatable to you.

    You need to ask the operator that would do that graft, as its going to be very specific to your situation. Sometimes that dentist cannot tell you for sure, as there are "known unknowns" that you can only tell at the time of surgery.

    My strong advice (as ironic as it would be to take this advice) is not to take advice from internet strangers, you will just filter out what you dont want to hear and convince yourself one way or the other.

    I am of course going to see a dentist about this.
    I am now going against the idea of bone graft as it seems it is a big surgery and as you say known unknowns.
    I am going to ask the specialist about zygomatic implants and see what he says.
    I will discuss these options and any other options he may have also.

    Out of interest, what is your opinion on zygomatic implants? And also other dentists here, OS, Dave?

    Zygomatics can work well but usually in cases where all the teeth are missing because the head of them ends up quite far to the pallate, its depends on your situation. Zygmoatics are a much bigger deal and are really a hospital, GA job.
