Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Going very steady, scorecards well tidy, no doubles

-10 at the turn and only two shots behind the leader!!!

She's well in this. Only one behind the leader with four to play 👍

Missed a short birdie putt at 15 but still well in it. Showing exactly why she's no. 1 amateur in the world

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,336 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Has given herself another birdie chance on 16

Just missed it, looked in all the way.

Leader only pars 17 after driving through the green.
Not sure if Leona can drive it though, 258 to pin, 230 carry over water.

    Edit: She's going for it

Back bunker. In with a chance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,336 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

And she went through the green too into a bunker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Tricky putt for birdie on 17. She putts well though - missed a birdie by a whisker on the last hole.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,336 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

    Birdie on 17.

Bugger. In the bunker on 18.

Bugger, too long and into bunker on 18th.

From the Ladies Euro tour website...

"Gustafson knew the right things to say at the key moments, but a clubbing decision on the par three 18th tee cost the less experienced Maguire the chance to win the title.

Handling the disappointment like a professional, Maguire explained: “I knew it was tight coming up 18 and we didn’t really know where the wind was coming from. I thought it was downwind, dad thought it was into the wind and it was probably the wrong club off the tee but I’m very proud of the way I played all day. Going out at the start of the day I would have taken that so it’s been a great day.”

    Superb stuff from Leona.

She got 9 Rolex ranking points for finishing runner so she debuts at 336 in the world rankings.

Also in the bag is an invite to the last major of the year (Evian Masters).
She might also try to qualify for the British Open.
European team championships on this week.

She's failed to qualify for the British Open - that's a pity

What was the story with her caddie? She was on the radio being interviewed about her failure to qualify. Apparently the caddie left his phone on and it rang on the first fairway costing her a 2 shot penalty. He then gave her a wrong yardage. She was polite but you could tell she was seething with him. Don't know who he was but apparently a seasoned Tour caddie.

Wow, that's poor form to say the least, how much did she end up missing the cut by?

I'd love to see a rule brought in for a 2 shot penalty for any player whose phone rings on the course in any competition.

Playing her first major this week and has made the cut. Well played Leona.

Just beat me to it. Sitting on +3 and currently T46th. Projected cut of +5. Well played indeed!

Watching it on SS and no sign or mention of her, in fairness too far back, still Creamer missed the cut

Leona up to 280th in the world rankings now, good ranking considering the divisor is 35 and she only has 2 counting events. Still number 1 in amateur rankings as well. Stephanie Meadow is ranked 161, she's struggled this year.

How's the sister getting on? Lisa isn't it? Seemed like there was never anything between them all the way up along but it now seems like you just hear about Leona really. Suppose it was only natural that one of them would emerge as the better golfer.

From what I see of the Duke uni entry to team comps in the States Lisa is usually a dozen or higher shots behind Lena in virtually every tournament

She seems to be struggling a few years, ive heard major swing changes but not sure, im sure she will be back winning again, too good of a player not to imho

Interesting, they were only back from Duke a few days at the end of term last year when they were in with Shane O'Grady in my home club. Have seen them in the club for lessons a couple of times.
They have a young brother coming through the ranks who's also supposed to be razor sharp.

See Lisa will caddy for Leona at the Olympics, I think this could well be a long term arrangement should Lisa not close the gap in terms of results between them.

They could switch after 9 holes if Leona wasn't playing well and nobody would notice!

Leona was interviewed on the radio last week and said that Lisa had gone through a major swing change this year and was starting to play some good golf again.

Leona herself said she was just starting to work with the same coach on something small in her own game so I guess she must think a lot of him after seeing Lisa's improvements
