Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That’s some sense of entitlement you have, it wasn’t that long ago that you were registering fake accounts on here to try and scam circle k codes of other generous users.

Anyways I’d say the Lidl staff are having a right laugh at changing codes and watching you get your knickers in a twist as they are shared.

Finally came through.. looks like they’re holding out till the email sends now

    Active from tomorrow.

    PARKRUN930

  • Registered Users Posts: 529 ✭✭✭Cookiee

    PARKRUN930

Don't bother try to redeem today, it will say invalid as code is only activated from tomorrow, seems like they changed it around

Code can be activated from tomorrow in the app and last day to redeem is Wednesday

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 GipsyMoth

This was in the email too asking people not to share the codes outside of parkrun

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 632 ✭✭✭Escapees

Very strange changes to the parkrun redemption terms... Maybe Lidl didn't anticipate the level of interest and are trying to reduce the number of freebies given out by letting stocks run out for a few days...

Exactly, when Lidl and Parkrun originally negotiated the deal, they would have had a rough idea of costs based on the number of Parkrun members. Now that they're probably giving away a lot more than that estimate, costs are probably way up and based on their last email I'd say it'll probably eventually get pulled.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

last code…doubt it will happen next week based on changes and abuse

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,187 ✭✭✭mikeecho

I noticed that on their latest email, they are asking for the code not to be shared.

I presume they will change things soon enough, so that only actual participants are given the code at the run.

It's been great getting free stuff, but it is too good to be true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,209 ✭✭✭PopTarts

A unique code to those signed up would reduce some numbers or to have it as a qr code for those who attend the runs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,687 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

only predicted this afternoon that the Parkrun codes getting shared on that Facebook group could be the end of it and its looking like thats what will happen now if they are telling people not to share it. With 200,000 in the Facebook group it must be obvious in Lidl HQ that its being used much wider than the actual Parkrunners

It'll be a shame if it happens as the Parkrun treats were always much better than the ones on the scratchcards, like where else would you get things like organic blueberriers and caesar salads for free

That's just a fb page.. how many of those ppl are then giving the codes to friends and family + the number of ppl who are actually registered for park run, and I presume they also share with friend and family.

No wonder stuff is often missing from the shelf.

... But having said that .. it's a lot of extra people going into lidl that otherwise wouldn't.

Time will tell.. three weeks will tell a lot.

Code working now. €5 of €30 and free apples, other that that offers are as usual weak and can’t see myself making spending ages scanning aisles to save €0.20 on something I don’t want or need and is probably out of stock anyway

Are you denying the fact you got banned from the circle k thread for breaking the rules and then reregistered as a new poster and started asking for codes?

in the prison forum you were found out and then you claimed someone in your house registered the new account before you cried like a baby and admitted it was you and asked for forgiveness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,209 ✭✭✭PopTarts

Snacking Tray or Hazlenut Chocolate on first scratch card

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭uli84

This is crazy, some woman even offering parkrun codes on adverts

    https://www.adverts.ie/28103189

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 931 ✭✭✭GAAcailin

Nuts, I see she is offering H & M clothes vouchers too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭amber2

    Next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,213 ✭✭✭JabbaTheHut

Well, someone just scuppered her by posting the code in her own thread. Now it's marked as sold.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 931 ✭✭✭GAAcailin

Say she is just trying to get her ratings up. Nuts…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,644 ✭✭✭Red Silurian

We can blame the Facebook page all we want but we are doing the exact same thing here and are open to anybody with a web browser, not just those with a facebook account. And personally I see no issue with it

Don’t think people on here have an issue otherwise no one would post a bargain, just posting as a word of warning to get in there fast as the more that the code is being used the more likely it will be flagged to HO and the likely hood of it being pulled

ha ha does anyone remember the circle k bandit 🤣 they’d take all the links. Fecking they must be dead now from a heart attack. Loved that circle k game, my car was spotless! Not so much now.

Those are very poor ''savings'' in my opinion...They have gotten poorer as the weeks have gone on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 GipsyMoth

I have to agree and I’ve noticed they charge more on items than is advertised on the shelf it’s only 5-10c sometimes 50c but I’ve been stung many times now. I know prices fluctuate but they rarely update it

ive been going to Dunnes more often now the lure of the free junk food item is starting to wear off now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭Patsy167

I've noticed in my local Lidl that the app is a massive hit with the kids coming in from school and might explain the shortages on the treats in recent weeks for some stores.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭uli84

As for Parkrun i’d love to join but nothing in my vicinity, typical :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,843 ✭✭✭Buffman

I wonder will they look at just using the Parkrun barcode? (For those not in Parkrun, you're given a wrist band with your unique barcode on it that you scan at each event so your times can be tracked)

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Too much hassle I'd say as the database of unique runner barcodes would have to be managed etc. They'll just decide to stop the promotion probably. Which is fair enough really...

Thats insane that someone on Adverts was selling Parkrun codes like wtf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,209 ✭✭✭PopTarts

Apricot Jam or Raw Fruit and Nut Bar on second scratch card

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 14,124 Mod ✭✭✭✭pc7

It was hilarious, they had to have been sitting on boards 24/7 🤣 they would claim them within seconds. Like how many free bits do you need, most of the stuff was sugary. I think you could see were redeemed so that’s how we knew where.

  • Registered Users Posts: 463 ✭✭go4it

Dark chocolate or Plasters for 3rd card

Not sure if anyone else gets the same 'extra' deals - maybe you have to opt-in first , so they can process your spending habits - but this is the first attempt to hook sale you something else (along the lines of - you might be interested in this and that from social media apps )

in our office not everyone got the hardware deals - some got discounts on cookware or nothing at all

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 14,124 Mod ✭✭✭✭pc7

Tuna offer didn't work for me today and teller said they told head office yday. Texted them and they said they didn't know and added €2 to my account :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,129 ✭✭✭gussieg

i have joined parkrun as a result of this after enjoying the fruits, and lidl are coming this week to our parkrun so thats kind of handy, giving out bits of fruit as well it says. Noice !

but as for the other bargains not as good as before and yes, i often get stung on over pricing compared to shelf pricing, most items i wouldnt have picked up except for the price reduction on the shelf label, and they really take their time over the refunds when i point them out , but they do eventually hand it over, its just another stress shopping there, to have to check the receipt before you leave the shop. other shops do it too, but not as much.

the Lidl parkrun has been mentioned on TikTok you can guarantee it will be cancelled now

all this buzz is making Lidl marketing team get the big bonuses , for reaching high and wide

swipe left generation wouldn't keep going to the shop, if ONE time they went the product is OOS; they prefer to swipe left and have it order and delivered for free at your door ...

Lidl has enough knowledge from the other markets on how to jack up or dial down the shoppers interest : For ireland, start with free items only when you purchase something and work your way up to free 1 product/day not every x hrs ; if footfall drops, give €1 for 2-3 weeks at scrachcard

Tuna offer still not working this evening got caught out and I'm not causing a scene for 38c. 2 days and not fixed is pretty shabby from them though

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 14,124 Mod ✭✭✭✭pc7

Text them, I got €2 voucher added to account

  • Registered Users Posts: 867 ✭✭✭crayon80

I can see parkrun codes being cancelled too.

I'm in the fb group out of pure fomo 😁 I've asked for nothing and no way will I pm my lidl code to anyone. What I think will be the final nail in the coffin is its not just the parkrun code itself being shared, it's people passing on their code if they won't use it. And all the posts asking for parkrun items. And people in both posts hopping on the bandwagon commenting I want them too!!

Lidl parkrun offers are incredibly generous, they're healthier and generally more expensive items than the scratch cards. I'd say they'll either stop doing them or change to cheaper products like 1 free apple or banana.

Some people grab up to 10 of a freebie - you see the same users popping up frequently as admin don't seem to care about that and it's not all need, it's greed. #rantover

How do other Lidl Plus countries deal with social media sharing of codes etc.? It has been around four years in other countries, compared to two years here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,483 ✭✭✭Macy0161

I am signed up for Park Run (I have even done a few), but no issue with the nuts in Bray anyway. However, didn't get the free chocolate due on the App yesterday! Didn't spot it until I was away from the store.

  • Registered Users Posts: 684 ✭✭✭questionmark

Other countries do t have freebies..most places you get a percentage discount on a random item

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,988 ✭✭✭✭zell12

  • Registered Users Posts: 463 ✭✭go4it

yep, in other countries you don't get freebies at every shop.

Their local reward scheme implies a free product when you reached a certain threshold on spending : sometimes is a discount on your next purchase ( with a reasonable max limit ) or a free food item

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭Minimarkcork

You might have to zoom into the barcode to get a proper screenshot of it

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭Minimarkcork

It can be used in any Lidl

  • Registered Users Posts: 335 ✭✭MB05

I was in Dunnes today and the price of 6 Free Range Eggs went up from €1.89 to €2.25, a lot more than 2c per egg. I just checked the Tesco website and they are charging the same. So it's 12c for the farmers and 24c for the supermarket .. it quite literally is one for you and two for me. 19% increase to the consumer instead of 6%. Every time you go to the shop now the prices have soared by this kind of percentage. it's totally out of control.
