Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi All, I need your help. My 4 year old rescue dog was attacked by an off lead dog at the start of the pandemic causing 2 broken bones in her paw . Fast forward 9 weeks, splints & bandages removed & she’s still not using her paw .
I am very concerned as prior to this , we walked 5k daily & did agility.
I spoke with my vet at Lenny& he now thinks it’s time to see an orthopaedic vet, Shane Guerin in Cork or Billy Mc Cartney in Dublin .
Has anyone here used these guys & if so what was your experience. Please pm if not allowed to write on the forum.
Any help with this would be much appreciated, she is very fed up now & I am devastated to see her in this way . Thanks in advance.

Yes have used Shane - he saved Bailey when UCD told me there was no hope for him. Haven’t used Billy but used one of his vets (in Malahide) and he wasn’t great.

Poor you, and your poor dog. What does your vet say/why ortho needed?
Where are you based OP? Edward Gillic in Moss Vet Naas specializes in orthopaedic and fracture repair, he's done a couple of surgeries on our dogs, and I would recommend him. I have heard good things about Shane Guerin.

I used Billy McCartney for my cat when her ribs were broken and he was brilliant, would definitely recommend

Really sorry to hear about what happened to your poor dog, that's absolutely awful :(
I've used Shane Guerin's services too, he is excellent. Pricey enough, but then, all orthopaedics is pricey :o
There's also James Dunne in Galway. I haven't dealt directly with him, but I know a couple of people who have and were very impressed with him. Indeed, he helped a dog I know who had a catastrophic injury to her paw from a strimmer accident as a puppy that was left untreated until she was rescued.
TK, you think Syd Nagle might be an option too?

Yeah I think Syd would be a good option if you’re near Dublin OP. I thought I had edited earlier to say that! Syd will get an opinion from Gilabbey if needed and refer down if it’s not something he can do. He got an opinion from them for Bailey’s knee before he did it. You can book online and choose Syd and get a slot that suits you - http://www.caravetgroup.com/ (I like booking online because it sends reminders to all my gadgets lol! :D ) He’s very good and will think outside the box.

    HI All ,
you may remember the above post.Well we did on line consultations with Jerry in Irish Veterinary Specialists in Mallow,he was excellent & has given me exercises to do with her & also recommended daily swimming.Which entailed us taking her to our local river for swimming sessions, unfortunately she also has IBD which we have under control, until we took up swimming. She suffered a really bad flare resulting in profuse diarrhoea & bleeding & this also wiped her out.

My vet believes its from swallowing the river water :(
So swimming has been cancelled until i can find an alternative option !

So I am hoping you can help/advise me, i am thinking of getting a swimming pool for the back garden for her,it will need to be deep/big enough for her to swim in !!Shes a springer/jack russell cross !Have never had cause to look even at a paddling pool for kids, so am completely out of my depth ( pun intended :D )

Can anyone on here help/advise.Thanks in advance
