Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I went to the bank, to see what they could do.
They said, 'son looks like bad luck got a hold on you.'

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
We tried to reach beyond the emptiness
    But neither one knew how

I saw the lamp light from your window, didn't think you were home, sitting there, all alone.
So I came up to your room to ask you why.
Why did you hurt me so, why did you have to go, away?

actually i think we both might be right. this site gives the lyrics from an earlier recording and they match yours. The Burl Ives recording uses the lyrics i posted. the dangers of posting lyrics from old folk where the lyrics are not fixed in stone.

Yeah loads of different people have recorded it and some of them change the lyrics alright. I love the scene in Stir Crazy when Gene Wilders cellmate sings it too. One of my favourite films and a gorgeous song.
