Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Crumlin Raod Names - Dublin 12

    Hi all,

    During a recent conversation somebody mentioned how a lot of roads in Drimnagh are named after Irish Mountains eg. Mourne Rd, Galtymore Rd. etc. It got us thinking, what are the roads in Crumlin named after?

    Any ideas??

    Drimnagh is mountains, Crumlin is monasteries and not that you asked but Walkinstown roads are named after poets too. Being from the area, it's always a nice little fact to throw at visiting guests

    That tells us something about official Ireland in the mid-20th century. Dublin roads were named for Christian sites, rural features, and poetry. Cabra has a mixture of referents, but would the Dubs who were assigned houses there think of naming a road for Ventry, or St. Jarlath, or Newgrange?

    There would be a few exceptions though in Crumlin and Drimnagh.

    Carrow Road in Drimnagh is not named after an Irish mountain range as far as I know.

    Captains Road and Lisle Road in Crumlin are not named after Monasteries either.

    They both existed before the Corporation building project. Stannaway Road is another exception to the general naming pattern; it's an old name for part of the area.
