Looks very well kept in fairness,we had a 4355 that jumped out of gears and was very underpowered and sluggish, clutch went on her often.

most be well minded. I thought mine are getting on a bit with the 5000 having 9.5k, the f140 5.5k and the 110-90 6.6k and the terex 860 having 3.2k. looks like I should be fine for a good while yet

What ya expect from a massey only the best :D

There was an article in Classic Tractor a couple of years ago about a guy in England with a Leyland. Think it was a 270. 52000 hours on it. Was on a mid mounted hedge trimmer all its life.

Hedge cutting is where the big hours are alright!

AFAIK older tractors measured hours at a particular RPM, e.g. 1800rpm on our IH at home. So if the tractor was left idling at 900rpm it would take 2 actual hours to get on on the clock. Likewise if revved out flat a clock hour would be less than a real hour. Thats my understanding of it anyway.

I think modern tractors just measure total running hours?

2325 hours on the 5000 and it's the exact same hours as was on it when I bought it almost 30 years ago. You can't believe any tractor clock imo.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

What a miserable place to spend 34K hours
Esp if it's a dry clutch (I imagine it's not!)

Lad on FB there was asking how can you stop the clock on JCB and Deeres, wouldn't believe clocks at all tbh..

Theres a valtra (think it's a 6400) with 34K hours as well, works at a logging company, drawing logs all day. Plenty of 8050 series valtras about with north of 20K, still going strong.

I know of a 99 reg JD 6810 with up on 20k hours. contractor machine, but it only does light work now, rake, wrapping, and pulling a low loader and dumper. It has done everything for the contractor tough, mowing, hauling silage, slurry, pulled a fusion for a few years (and made good bales), had a loader fitted for a few years.

Our MF 4245 just clocked 4k hours last week, only 30k hours to catch up! What are peoples opinions on the 4200 series? Ours never have us a bit of bother except the usual wear and tear you would expect from any tractor. Looking at done deal, the 4200 series didnt seem to hold the value like the 300 series did, but the 300 series are totally over priced!
