Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Our Liebherr fridge/freezer won't stop beeping - advice?

    We have a Liebherr fridge/freezer, about 4 years old that will not stop beeping. It is truly infuriating. It appears to relate to the fridge portion, though both fridge and freezer are still working. There is a button to silence alarm, but it just comes back on 5 minutes later. I no longer have receipt so can't go back to shop, and not sure whether the Small Claims court would do anything at this stage. Has anyone any ideas what could cause this? I have defrosted fridge etc and cleaned it out to no avail. I downloaded manual but not much information on this problem. Model is 091877301 for what it matters. Any advice appreciated from someone with a bit of knowledge about fridges!

    first thing - the shop where you bought it will have a record so dont worry about reciept

    second thing is dont be too quick to seek or mention small claims court

    here is an extract from your manual

    Audible warning on/off button
    The appliance is equipped with an alarm function.
    If the temperature in the freezer compartment rises too high, the audible warning signal will sound and the LED in the audible warning
    on/off button will flash.
    Press the audible warning on/off button to cancel the alarm. The LED will stop flashing and will light continuously. The LED will go out as soon as the temperature in the freezer compartment is low enough.
    This can be caused by:
    • the freezer door being left open for a long time, allowing warm ambient air to enter;
    • a long power failure;
    • a fault in the appliance.
    In each case, make sure food has not defrosted or perished. If the visual warning LED does not go out, contact the customer service department (see section on "Malfunctions").

    Malfunctions
    Your appliance is designed and manufactured for a lengthy, reliable operating life with no malfunctions. If a malfunction nonetheless occurs during operation, check whether it is due to an operating error. Please note that even during the warranty period the resultant servicing costs in this case will have to be borne by the owner.
    You may be able to rectify the following faults by checking the possible causes yourself:
    Appliance does not function:
    – Is the appliance switched on?
    – Is the plug correctly fitted in the mains socket?
    – Is the socket fuse intact?
    Loud running noise:
    – Is the appliance set up firmly on the floor?
    – Does the appliance cause nearby items of furniture or objects to vibrate? Please note that noises caused by the refrigerant circuit cannot be avoided.
    The temperature is not low enough:
    – Is the temperature setting correct (see "Setting the temperature")?
    – Have excessive amounts of fresh food been placed in the appliance?
    – Does the separately installed thermometer show the correct reading?
    – Is the ventilation system working properly?
    – Is the appliance set up too close to a heat source?
    If none of the above causes apply and you cannot rectify the fault yourself,
    contact the nearest customer service department stating the type of appliance ➊, index ➋ and appliance
    number ➌ as indicated on the type plate. The type plate is located in the refrigerator compartment on the left-hand side.

    could be your fridge just needs a new thermostat

    TThanks for response. Yeah, I had read manual online but didn't seem to tell me much on how to solve it. I got on to someone through that company you listed, call out charge plus expected labout (presuming its is a small fix) comes to 75€ (€50 basic fee plus 25). Is this a good price for that kind of thing?

    I would be inclined to rule out the stat the fact that it runs,if it bleeps it is running high on temp, ideally stick a thermometer into it and check the two compartments for temp, freezer approx -20, fridge +2or 3 degrees, a number of things can cause a malfunction, the worst being a loss of refrigerant through a leak in the hermetically sealed system and regassing is a waste of money unless the leak can be found and repaired and i wouldnt think a liebherr has a leak at 4 years, a common cause of fridges going high temp is a build up of dust on the condenser, which is the radiator type pipeing, give it a good cleaning and if it is fan assaisted see that the fan runs with the compressor, a frost free unit has a fan to circulate the the coldness internally and if this has failed or clogged up dou to a heater failure or a door being left partially open this will also cause this issue, one thing to watch out for on all frost free units is do not bang a door shut as the displacement of air can cause the other door to be pushed partially open causing a multitude of follow up problems, hope this is of some help

    [QUOTE. Nice appliance and looks great when they work but when they don't boy can it be difficult to repair or find someone compitent enough it has proven a struggle to do just that in the end liebherr put us in contact with a service agent www.agsrefrigeration.co.uk who operate in the Uk london/surrey area they came out and found the cause which they repaired they informed us which we already knew that these are difficult machines to work on at the best of times and only specially trained engineers can work on these appliances and that a majority of other companies are not adept or even know what they are doing when it comes to liebherr fridges.
