Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The messages in your message folder on the public jobs website aren't in order. The message with your correct candidate ID is the correct one. Also, the results are right in both so if you got two verified and two passes you are through.

If you got one saying your in then you are in, everyone was first told they failed so the second on saying your in is the right one.

Complete mix of emotions. Devastated at the start, then waiting for the confirmation email was wrecking my head. Now it's gonna be spent getting on with work and preparing for the interview.... But I'll leave that till tomorrow.

Looking back at the page or two of disbelief and panic in the stage 3 thread when everyone thought they had failed for a few minutes is fairly interesting!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,571 ✭✭✭newmug

RIGHT! Quick question - At what stage are you definitely "in"? As in pack your bags, you're off to Templemore? Is it if you pass the interview, or will there be "bands" again at the interview stage, bands at the medical stage, bands at the fitness etc?

I suppose what I'm asking is, will there be more bands, or is it just pass / fail from here on in?

The background check will take a while. I reckon that will be the final hurdle as in all other stuff (PCT, Medical etc) will have been completed before the findings of your BR come back. Mind you, the Gardai didn't even bother doing BR on all recruits last time around so who knows....... It was in the paper a couple of months ago that there are serving Gardai with prior convictions who should never have got in. One would imagine that they will check everyone this time though.

That's exactly how I feel. However, I think if there's nothing in your background you're worried about, you're fit and healthy, and you do a good interview I'd say there's a very good chance of getting in at some stage in the next two years.

Its usually the case that if you pass the interview everything else should be plain sailing. You should be of good character, fit and healthy before even applying so pct, med and BR should be a formality

It's good to know that canvassing will disqualify applicants

That's my question - is the pct, med, br etc going to be banded like every other stage, or is it just a case of pass and you're in, fail and you're out? Like even if you pass the fitness, will they take the best 100 through and good luck to everyone else?

  • Registered Users Posts: 211 ✭✭galalala123

We're an elite few that got to this stage theres not a whole pile left. I wonder will we get our dates and our forms today??

Merely to point out that it is at interview stage that the canvassing will start. You can do the best interview but when (not if) the old stroke system starts operating you could be left behind
