Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Twas the old birthday last week, and I accumulated €1000 from family, parents, friends, etc. Have decided to spend it on a new casual wardrobe as I'm starting college in September, and am in desperate need of day-to-day threads.

Haven't been in town for months, as I'm up to my eyes with the Leaving Cert, so could anybody recommend high street stores with nice, casual stuff in at the moment? We're talking jeans, hoodies, nice t-shirts, vest tops, etc.

All help much appreciated, thank you!

River Island is always a good place to go for casual wear. Try Topshop too. But River Island is the bomb :D

Next is OK Sasha or H and M. Tribe is ik in Stephens green is ok for hoodies .It is easy to spend a grand on clothes, seriously. Buy a few key peices that you can mix and match and will last. It's better to spend a lot on a little as the quality will last. also i'd advise to invest in a cord sports coat and a floaty scarf (it looks smart yet cas and is handy for the autumn). Can you not save most of the grand for the sales after Christmas and stock up on the rest of your items then?

Id recommend Vera Moda, was there the weekend and got lovely vest tops and hoodies. They do fab jeans aswell.
Id stay away from River Island, 20 quid for a vest top is a rip off!

Id also recommenc Penneys for combats, i got a few pairs last yr, great quality for only 18euro :)

She can spend as much on clothes as she wants, she was looking for advise not questioning of her decision. Why don't you hold off until the designer sales of the SS items during the summer? You could get a lot of great items for reasonable money.

Pennies. ;) I know it's cheap but there are good things in there. Noname is good too, I was in there the other day.

A few of my friends swear by Stradivarius (I know there's one in Jervis, not sure of any others).

What I've bought with my fortune so far:

    Brushed boy-fit jeans (RI, €65)
    White skinny jeans (a_wear, €30)
Aqua suede platform stilettoes (Buffalo, €130)
    Multi-blue tunic thing (A_wear, €35)
    Hoodie (Dunnes, €15)
    Denim skirt (Urban Outfitters, €45)
    Jewellery (Topshop, Pulse, €50 approx.)
2 scarves (Penneys, €9 for two)
    Underwear (Penneys, €12)

    So I have €609 left!

What's the drama with her spending her b'day cash on clothes?
It's not crazy money, I'd often spend a grand or two on clothes
when in the US on business a couple of times a year.

OP, not sure what your plans are for the summer - but you might
want to keep some funds for shopping whilst abroad. Always fun
if you away somewhere and get a chance to hit the shops in say
Madrid, Paris, NY or Stockholm, might pick up something you don't
see in the shops in Ireland and have that more unique factor ;)

Im also spending my birthday money at the mo, Ive hit Dundrum and was in around the Grafton Street area today, budget wasnt really an issue and yet I couldnt find much to suit me at all! I'd reccomend topshop jeans- got some black skinny jeans in topshop (61E), a few cheap-ey going out style tops in river island and thats basically it!

Bershka in Dundrum have some gorgeous stuff right now, I really love their bright clothes so you should go there! Also was very impresses with Pull and Bear in Dundrum, bought some nice tshirt type things there on Monday.

If anyone sees any decent say, mini-dress/cocktail style not too fancy dresses on their travels would they post? Im after finishing college and theres a week of sessioning ahead, and I seem to be severely lacking in any nice clothes to wear to nightclubs etc! Cant seem to find any anywhere :(

I think you can if you subscribe. Might bite into your clothes budget though. :)

If the idea of spending that cash on clothes is to look good when you head off to college.....then why don't you save what you haven't spent yet until Autumn, and buy the latest stuff for autumn/winter then. That's what I'd do.
