Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My partners oil heating system is on the way out and with a couple of rads not heating up she is looking to replace the whole system including rads, which has lead to a discussion regarding which would be better and cheaper to run..a new oil system or a new gas system over the lifetime of the heating? Are there grants available for upgrading the system?
The house is a 3 bedroom semi D, the walls and attic are all fully insulated.

Heating oil is cheaper now than for a very long time ....but that won't last.
Generally speaking oil works out cheaper than gas.
You may not need to change the whole heating system, if the pipework is OK perhaps if you flush the whole system and fit a new boiler it could do the trick and save a few dollars- talk to a good plumber first.
Check SEAI website for info on any grants available.

Oil most certainly is not cheaper than gas. Well not natural gas anyway. Op, if you have access to nat gas then get it. Other than that, I’d go with oil.
