Where to find reviews about fillers/botox providers?

So I don't really know where to begin to look. I've read blog posts and websites about people's experiences of filler operations and they always say to do your research, read lots of reviews before choosing a surgeon you trust, and that is sensible advice but where are these reviews compiled and could be perused ?In my mind I'm imagining a site like realself would be a great tool, where you have a wealth of personal testimonials and other information shared in one specific platform, but obviously that caters only to an American audience.

I can't find any similar sites deal specifically with Irish doctors/aestheticians/plastic surgeons or whatever the term is. Is plastic surgery just still in it's infancy in Ireland, because there seems to be a real dearth of people sharing prior experiences with certain providers in Ireland it makes choosing one difficult. Who would be the more reputable ones?

Does it matter that I'm male and most patients would generally be female (I'd imagine)? I was interested specifically in getting injections to the nasolabial folds, could you trust a surgeon to be competent in multiple types of operations, for example might a surgeon who is known for doing good cheekbone fillers also be trusted to inject competently in the nasolabial folds?Or would a well reviewed filler surgeon generally be a dab hand at injecting in multiple parts of the face? Dunno if this is a silly or overly specific question and obviously the answer will vary depending on each doctor or practice but is it something to be wary of? I'd also be worried that a plastic surgeon would assure me they are competent to do any job asked of them even if they are not.

Just asking because if I must refine my search that much I think I'll have a very hard time finding a doctor that specifically has expertise in injecting nasolabial fold fillers in men. I really just have no idea about anything and don't know where to begin, and hoping to hear how others jumped into this at the beginning. Plastic surgery seems to almost invariably be very expensive,so I wouldn't want to mess up choosing my surgeon first time round, never mind the potential aesthetic issues of poorly choosing a surgeon.

Most places will have before and afters on websites or insta. Thats a good place to start

A consultation as a separate appointment is a good idea, so you can meet the person doing the treatment and have them go though the details with you and discuss recommendations before pulling the trigger. If you're not satisfied then don't make the follow up appointment.

As for me it's better to consult with local specialists to reduce the risks.

    What kind of local specialists?

OP in your post you refer to surgery, operations and surgeons. I think you may need to manage your expectations around what you are looking for. Injectables are not complex surgery. In Ireland you don’t have to be a Doctor to do Fillers. You need to be a Dentist or Dr to do Botox. Injectables are low risk and not that complex so you are not going to get very detailed reviews to the degree you seem to want. They can be reversed or re-touched pretty easily too and don’t last forever. Also people like different looks, some like a lot of filler in their lips, some people like raised eyebrows some ask for more subtle. It is a difficult thing to botch to be fair. If you are very nervous about the outcome maybe leave it. You seem to have an exaggerated view of how invasive it is so may not be ready for it.
