    Hi,

Looking to replace a home laptop which is at death's door - will be used for web browsing, some light gaming (Roblox for the kids that kind of thing) and a small amount of word processing/spreadsheets. My budget is around the €500-€600 mark. Doesn't have to be from a physical shop, bought from laptopsdirect before.....once went fine the other time a bit of a nightmare with the wrong model being shipped which eventually got resolved. Had a brief scour through the threads here and saw this one below which gets honourable mentions. Anyone care to express an opinion or suggest an alternative. No requirement for touchscreen.

    Many thanks!

You could go with this for under 450 eur. Not as premium feel as the Lenovo on the Currys site, but almost identical specs and 150 euro cheaper.

Thanks for that....was looking at this one which is similar to the one linked but a few quid cheaper, not sure what the difference is....

On looking at the Lenovo one it's only got 2 x usb ports and no ethernet port so a bit limited. Might plump for the HP unless anyone has an alternative? Saw a Dell linked a while back but not sure of the specs tbh, I'll try to find it and link.

    This one...it's €549

    Thanks for the steer!

Sorry, I was not at a PC/laptop and was looking for that model as I recommended it. Forget the 399 one, its the same model as the 369 one except the 369 one has full HD screen which is odd since its cheaper! I would say go for that.

The dell laptop is nice, better CPU than the other laptops but the graphical horsepower is down on the HP/Lenovo model.

    Cheers thanks for the help!

Saw this one when looking at the Lenovo I originally linked to....any views? Looks a bit better than the HP battery lifey not great but tbh will probably end up in the same place most of the time anyway so that isn't a concern. Might stay away from the Dell as the younger kids may want to play some games on it (and it's dearer than the HP). Any thoughts on the Acer?

Are these refurbs or new or what? Is this website legit? Gonna get the 369 one.

It says Hard drive not included. Is that something concerning?

Looks fine to me. I would say indeed battery life is around the same, the specs and battery cells are almost on-par with one another.

Thanks - leaning towards the Acer for aesthetic reasons......a little bit dearer but not that significant. I'll take a final look later tonight when I've more time - don't suppose there's any benefit in waiting until black Friday?

    Cheers for the assistance

Hijacking things slightly here but I've actually been looking at that Acer myself. Would it be powerful enough to play the likes over Overwatch/StarCraft 2/Dota? Games from maybe two or three years back.
