Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Your one prattling on about a mother's voice and child in the womb rubbish?
The way she whispers/hisses annoys me, especially the word "voice".

That'ssssssssss the one. Oh her voice...ssssssssssssssssssss

Similar godawful one with a record breaking sausage maker of all things, crowbarring in a mention of Virgins (allegedly) high speed internet at the end.

The sausage and piano player ads are my two most despised ads on at the moment. Ironically enough, with the theme being speed, both ads feel really long.

I don't hear this ad anymore.
It has been replaced by chirpy happy Cork/Tipperary hybrid male voice.

When that's played on Sky, they run subtitles under it!

I don't understand that reference either.

According to the apps stats, 100% of its users are healthy. Maybe the 1 in a million is the first person to actually get tracked and traced.

I think the line means that by downloading the app you're one of a million who have done so. Could be worded better.

Truly dreadful ad. I thought the piano one was odd but this is unbelievably bad.

New multi voiceover artist CV19 one.
One of the female voiceovers sounds quite pissed off, as if she's angry with us.

Yes I noticed the 2 hander Call-Response Male / Female Covid 19 ad.
Female voice is bad cop in this ad.

Are they both meant to be replacing the Male happy, chirpy "Tissue" Cork / Tipperary Voiceover?
Niamh from Fair City V/O is history at this stage...

The latest two voice Covid Ads are so patronising and utterly useless. Then they are followed by a slew of Ads trying to sell crap air conditioning ****e;, PPE and that useless feckin hairdresser....don't get me started.

There's a one for a wine sale on at the moment with a lad from "eh-spain". Could be possibly Centra.

His Spanish accent is so bad it make Kransel guy and the one from Air France seem like they were natives in comparison.

Can't see how it's that hard to find native speakers for adverts that require them.

    "Dont you forget about me"
Ad for music industry ireland Covid 19...any time I hear the start of the ad... I think its the current Heineken Covid 19 ad or an ad for an upcoming Simple Minds concert.

Maybe a different track could have been used?

It's even worse than Manuel from Fawlty Towers. Utterly amateur effort.

The repetative Irish Health Stores ad music sounds like it was played on a Fisher Price keyboard.

I agree that it's absolutely brutal, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt by saying that it's supposed to be.
It's clearly the guy that does all the other Centra ads so maybe we are supposed to recognise that it's him doing a crappy accent. The ad then kind of retains its "branding" while also attempting to show that they have a (crap) sense of humour.....

Or maybe I'm giving the ad agency too much credit when they are just being plain lazy....

Another Ad that beats me is a rare one, exclusively in Irish, on RTE in which the only recognisable word - to me - is Brexit which appears once near the end. What's that about?

That Bank of Ireland Mortgages ad is back..................."we'll meet you in a coffee shop or that little slice of Ireland you call home".....but that's the whole point of the meeting - if I need a mortgage its because I don't have a home!!!

Apparently Bank of Ireland will apparently meet you "Annie where, Annie time" ???? Who's she?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,363 ✭✭✭✭Del.Monte

And you can just imagine ringing up the bank - assuming the branch has somebody to answer the phone and that you're not put through to a call centre - and suggesting that they send somebody down to O'Reilly's bar to discuss a mortgage with you.

There's another homemade, steam powered, Ad running at the moment for de facto shaving oil https://www.defactoshave.com/ The Ad is very worthy - the product name off the wall and then the poor fool (owner?) spells out de facto in case the great unwashed can't understand such a catchy name.

The banker would probably order the priciest thing in the bar and make you pay for it, to top up their new fees policy

its that awful, awful creature "comedian" Maeve Higgins. shes very annoying. one of theses 40 year olds that acts and as if shes still 24 in college or something, all daft and giggly and throwing in the word "random" every few mins.

Doesn't make any sense unless a BOI manager will come out to meet you in your parents' house or some small time landlord's mouldy shoebox.

The one for the OTB sport app is really grating on me now.

Also the Now tv ads with Robert Webb as the tv are really annoying.

EZ Living furniture are using an audio track that is very similar to the old Sean O'Rourke theme/'Black Magic' by Little Mix.
Not to mention the overused stock audio of children laughing.

    NO.

    Smyths UK copy ads.

Most UK companies wouldn't use such a dissonant clanging UK VO in Ireland; but an Irish firm seems to think its fine!
