Anyone else notice that the majority of people in ads on tv these days are black? I find that fascinating. Using a person's skin colour to sell a product or service.

Well, I wouldn't say that the majority are black, but there's definitely over-representation of minorities in corporate advertising — not because companies use skin colour to sell their products, but because they fear being cancelled if they don't have the requisite representation of women & minorities.

Nowhere near the majority are black, but they are represented far over their numbers here. What's even more exaggerated is the amount of mixed race couples they depict in ads compared to the real numbers.

Part of it is trying to be 'with it', but a lot of it is fear from an online backlash if they don't have enough ethnic minorities in it.

Ireland has about 1% black population, so do the maths.

Its mostly fear of cancel culture, so there has to be token diversity whether its logical or not.

    A few ads are notable.
The Halifax Bank ad were most of the people in the ad are non white.
Its also noticeable that all the workers in the ad are white, the flower delivery man, the street cleaner, the vets and the bank official.

Microsoft Teams has another ad with Hasbro that has a very high diversity level.
Hasbro being our friends who recently did the huge u-turn on Mr Potato Head.

Trade unions around the world have launched a boycott of Coca-Cola products, alleging that the company's locally owned bottlers in Colombia used illegal paramilitary groups to intimidate, threaten and kill its workers.

The unions claim Coca-Cola bottlers hired far-right militias of the United Self Defence Forces of Colombia (AUC) to murder nine union members at Colombian bottling plants in the past 13 years.

Thankfully, tenure still exists in the US, meaning that the university can't easily fire him for his views. But he can still be targeted in other ways.

Too woke to be woke! When such people are so hypersensitive to the use of labels, only the "correct" labels will do and nothing else.

But they'll argue over the precise form the labels take.

Such people will never be satisfied, ever.

In the 2007 book, “Should We Burn Babar?,” the author and educator Herbert R. Kohl contended that the “Babar the Elephant” books were celebrations of colonialism because of how the title character leaves the jungle and later returns to “civilize” his fellow animals.

A lot of ex colonies were populated by savages and for all the bad things colonization did it also civilized them, so why do the wokies have this desire to minimize or even hide the fact that this actually happened?

Biden has put himself in a strait jack with his identity politics and pandering to the wokists.
    Its becoming a cult.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9318259/White-House-DECLINES-defend-Dr-Seuss-Joe-Biden-leaves-Read-America-Day.html#comments
The White House on Tuesday declined to defend Dr. Seuss after President Joe Biden left the children's author out of a proclamation celebrating Read Across America Day, which is held annually on the children's author's birthday on March 2.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the day is 'a chance to celebrate diverse authors whose work and lived experience reflect the diversity of our country.'

It was fine for Michelle Obama to read Dr Seuss to kids in the White House.

In Obama's 2014 proclamation, he said: '[Dr Seuss'] tales challenge dictators and discrimination. They call us to open our minds, to take responsibility for ourselves and our planet.'

In 2015, Obama stated: 'The works of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to us as Dr. Seuss, have sparked a love for reading in generations of students. His whimsical wordplay and curious characters inspire children to dream big and remind readers of all ages that 'a person's a person no matter how small.'

The following year, Obama said in 2016 that Seuss was 'one of America's revered wordsmiths' who 'used his incredible talent to instill in his most impressionable readers universal values we all hold dear.'

Trump, in his 2018 proclamation, urged Americans to 'always remember the still-vibrant words of Dr. Seuss: 'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.'

Biden decides that the books need to be banned.

At the Agency we value diversity and we welcome people with disabilities. Whenever possible, we seek to accommodate individuals with disabilities by providing the necessary support at the workplace

How does someone look at the word " women " and find that offensive . If anything it actually makes them look like they've a mental illness
Some may have, but it's more a societal illness. At least a loud section of modern western society. A section that is anti science, anti fact, anti pretty much everything because they're that type of person - and we all know one or two - who will never be satisfied and need a regular whinge for the attention and dopamine hit and the feeling that they're somehow special in an increasingly depersonalised world.

The interwebs, social media and some areas of academia have given them a platform and the feeling of community with others like them. And those same social media platforms encourage them and rev them up.

Why? Always follow the money. Why does Arsebook have dozens of "genders" and the like? Inclusivity? "Wokeness"? Don't make me laugh. It's to sell targetted marketing info for particular segments to advertisers. EG they find "non binary, two spirit, zers" spend more on I dunno cookery books than "CIS He/Him, Q+", so they can target cookery book advertising to the former. The other handy aspect for advertisers is those who have the time and freedom to come up with this nonsense are almost all middle class, degree holders with time on their hands, disposable income and a large chunk of insecurity. That's paydirt for commerce right there.

Tying themselves up in knots now as they make less and less sense.
Their non English speaking counterparts must have a fit if they speak a language where chairs and tables and whatever are "gendered". That said a lot of this (non) progressive insanity is very much of the Anglosphere and "European". You'll find precious little of it outside those confines. The Middle East isn't "woke", neither is the Far East, or Africa, or even South America for that matter.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Exactly. That is what happening with pride parade, which has gone corporate. It's ridiculous. And don't get me started with all the business showing up rainbow flags. Leprechauns and their pots of gold must be doing lots of overtime every June :D

I know people who'd go to the parade on their work floats / buses and a couple of years ago there were so many corporate groups that they left because of the float traffic jam :pac:
