Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    That's pretty impressive. Mine are:

    1. Bob Dylan, Toronto - outdoors, blus sky, was young and impressionable. Seen him 3 times since but nothing like the first
    2. Bruce Springsteen, RDS - he played for 4 hours and i never knew much about him, thought he was a cheesey US Rock star but then i discovered Darkness on The Edge of Town and Born to Run
    3. Jimmy Cliff, New York - Very uplifting and happy gig
    4. The Wailers, POD - More uplifting. Always love good reggae in concert
    5. Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Slane - sun was shining, great fun

    Most Disappointing

    1. Oasis - Marley Park
    2. Oasis - Lansdowne road

Just posted another thread about this gig- would love to see photos/videos of this- there is one on youtube and myspace about 8mins long but can't see myself in it- any help from anyone out there gratefully appreciated but great to see the (edited) video nevertheless- really brought back memories

    The Prodigy, ONE, The Point
Depeche Mode, ONE, The Point (will be TWO in Dec)
    Pink Floyd, ONE, Albert Hall
    Madonna, ONE, Wembley

Michael Jackson, THIRTEEN, Cork X 2 (Bad tour), Dublin X 2 (Dangerous/HIStory tour), Wembley X 9 (Dangerous/HIStory tour), had planned on the This is it to add further, but not to be.

I really enjoyed AC/DC, DM and Floyd but the Bad concerts in Cork as my first concerts remain the best, I remember the second date had thousands of tickets to sell and the queue to puchase them from people on the way out from the first concert was huge ensuring two sell outs.
DM will be my last concert as there's noone out there left I want to see really.

    Not counting festivals... let's see.

    Sunset Rubdown - Fantastic.
Wolf Parade - A little underwhelming compared to Sunset Rubdown.
Arcade Fire - Absolutely amazing, and this minute I'd swim the Atlantic to see them play again, even if it was on fire.
Metric - Great fun live, but I'm kind of over them.
Feist - Solid, better guitarist than I realised and a nice lady.
Foo Fighters - Exactly what I expected, no more no less.
Man Man - Unlistenable on record, but a total riot to see play.
Final Fantasy - Mesmerising dude, does amazing stuff.
Dolly Parton - and by God, I regret nothing
RHCP - were really not great.
    CSS - Sweaty laughs.
Parenthetical Girls - Clever and fun.
Radiohead - Great, but they don't really do anything different onstage than they do on disc, and I don't feel like I need to see them again.
Clinic - Playing too big a venue for the kind of music they play, and couldn't engage the crowd at all.
The National - Good, but I didn't quite enjoy them as much as everybody else around me seemed to.
Klaxons - Surprisingly moshy live, which is a good thing.

Missing a lot, but that's off the top of my head this minute.

Always fun to remember the gigs. I have a few beers on me or I would avoid this kind of indulgence.

    The festivals:-

    Memories from Reading
    - Charlatans at their peak, fantastic
    - The Music at the start of their career, impressive
    - The Fall with a drunk Mark E. Smith and seriously pissed off band members (never a boring band to watch)
    - Chili Peppers, meh
    - Chemical Brothers, hard to get worked up over some guys playing CDs

    Memories from Féile
    - Happy Mondays, my Gods at the time I stayed up front for hours dying for a piss waiting for them to perform. Well worth it but my kidney was numb
    - Rage Against the Machine, simply amazing

    Slane
    - REM, well worth it but I doubt if I'll ever visit Slane again.

    On their own:-

New Fast Automatic Daffodils - for a fiver. They were some band and to see them in a small venue for such a small price....a gig I will never forget. Nobdy else remembers them anymore.
Ride - in McGonagles days before their debut album was released. A special band imo.
Inspiral Carpets - another great gig where my glasses got crushed in the mosh but I didn't care. One of those rare times where I joined the moshing at a gig.
The The - unfortunately no Jools Holland but great to see Matt Johnson and argue with a bored Dave Fanning we spotted afterwards about how good they were.
Smashing Pumpkins - for about 3 or 4 songs. Yes that gig.
Pavement - simply one of my favorite bands in my lifetime. I'm happy I saw them at least once.
Stephen Malkmus - and happy that Malkmus is carrying the torch.
Mercury Rev - one of the greats for me but a little dissappointing in this particular gig.
Arcade Fire - Got to see them at the Phoenix Park and they easily live up to the hype.

    Multiple Visits:-

The Wedding Present - will never tire of The Weddos.
Spiritualized - I'm too old to know the right people these days but if I did I would be spliffed up every time for these guys.
Teenage Fanclub - so many good albums, so criminally ignored.
The Charlatans - have outlasted so many of their peers and deservedly so. Love any chance to see them. Last time at the Academy they were on top form.
The Fall - I've seen Mark E. Smith and his various ensembles many times and it never gets old.

The ones that need to be chalked off:-

Eels - absolutely top of my list. I must see E before I die.
Beck - Sadly if I get a chance to see him it will probably be with 80000 kids but so be it.
Sigur Ros - I think I'd prefer to travel to Iceland and watch them play in a small village but will probably have to make do with the same mewling kids as Beck if I do get to see them. Oh well.

Indulge my nerdy needs here for a second, where and when? And how awesome were they each time, on a scale of fail to Win?

One of the best artists I've ever seen was Pierce Turner from Wexford, a great Irish singer/songwriter.

He played he very recently.. tickets were too dear for me though. I'm really regretting not going :(

I much prefer listening to his live performances on youtube than his CDs.. especially Shower The People.. beautiful

I saw Pierce in Cork a few years ago. Brilliant he was! He was dancing up on tables and all sorts. Peter Broderick does this sort of thing too. It takes this whole 'interacting yourself with the crowd' to a different level.

I think you'll find you were at at least 3 of them with me! But ok, in order (but can't be arsed looking up exact dates):

    2005:
    Rock en Seine Paris
    2007:
    Olympia Dublin
    Olympia Dublin
    Oxegen Punchestown
    Latitude Suffolk
    Phoenix Park Dublin
    Phoenix Park Dublin

    Cardiff International Arena Cardiff
    Nottingham Arena Nottingham
    Columbiahalle Berlin
    Gasometer Vienna
    Tonhalle Munich
    Alexandra Palace London
    Alexandra Palace London
    Alexandra Palace London

Also had a ticket for Manchester but wussed out last minute. As for ratings, they were all well worth going to, great live band, but the ones that really stood out were Rock en Seine 2005, Newcastle (great setlist), and Berlin. And the suckiest by a long way was Oxegen. ;)

    Oasis, Kasabian (Slane this year)
Prodigy (4 or 5 times, normally twatted so can't remember exactly how many)
    Metallica
    Faithless (Creamfields 2002?)
    Motorhead (Bulldog Bash, UK)
Status Quo (Bulldog Bash, brutal.. hate them but friends made me go)
Ocean Colour Scene (Indiependence festival last weekend)
    Kaiser Chiefs
    Chemical Brothers
    Kings of Leon
Amy Winehouse (on the barrier at Oxygen, surprisingly good)
    Newton Faulkner
    Counting Crows
Tracy Chapman (free tickets, thats why!!)
Pink (not mad about her music, but she's a sexy bitch)
UB40 (never seen so many knackers in one place)
    The Wailers (supporting UB40, Class)
Dragonforce (went because friends were going, very good)
    The Fureys

If we were including big name DJs, I'v seen just about every one of them.... Went through a phase (2000-2005) of travelling the country to see whatever good DJ was on.... Tiesto, Oakenfold, Mauro Picotto, Lisa Lashes, Lisa Pin-Up, Carl Cox, Eddie Halliwell, Fergie, Sister Bliss etc. etc.

In fairness to me, was going to these dance 'gigs' before the scobes got in on the scene. And there were a lot of drugs involved as well:cool:.......
Would'nt go across the road to see one of these DJs now!!
