Diploma in Project Management

    I'm considering the option of doing a part-time diploma course in Project Management ( either in IBAT or DBS ) and was hoping to get some feedback on the diploma course, and the benefits of having the qualification itself. Is there another course that might be more beneficial? To what end does it contribute towards attaining the PMP Certification?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    It may depend on the industry, however in my opinion having some demonstratable experience as a Project Manager along with the PMP qualification in itself is more important than having a 'random' diploma, in the jobs market.

    The educational prequalification to apply for the PMP exam is 40 hours of 'Approved Project Management Training' and there are plenty of online courses which will provide this for a couple of hundred euro. Some of these are pretty good and will give a good basis understanding of project management, while being tailored towards passing the PMP exam.

    The multi-nationals seem keen on the PMP qualification as it is a recognisable international standard of knowledge/understanding and dont really care how you got there.

    Note that there are other requirements (experience based) to meet in order to be eligible for the PMP exam which you should look into.

    The PMP is an exam, seperate to any (AND ALL) training courses that you do.

    To do the PMP exam you need to have 4 days training in Project Management and 4 years (documented) work experience. The exam is relatively easy if you have experience in using the processes described in the PmBok. Otherwise its incomprehensible.

    As for a diploma course, first make sure its fun, that there are plenty of activities and group work. Otherwise its boaring.

    And finially if a guy spends the last day and telling what you did so far was rubbish and that Agile is where its at. I figure it was a good course and well worth the last day alone
