Original e-street drummer Vini "mad dog" Lopez is performing as part of the Light of Day Foundations gig at the Soundhouse, Eden Quay this Thursday 29/11/18.

Lopez shares the bill with Joe D'Urso, Jeffrey Gaines, Rob Dye and others.

This is the 3rd year Light of Day has started their European tour in Dublin and having attended the previous 2 shows, I can tell you its not to be missed.

The musicians mingle with the audience before and after the show, happily posing for photos or signing merch. Its a great opportunity to get Lopez to sign your copies of "Greetings from Asbury Park", and "The wild, the innocent and the e-street band". - Lopez played on both.

    Tickets €25, available from https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3660593?fbclid=IwAR2rXFe4BLeaeeV_xbZRUs1IWMP5OZPOsWgkF4-sPqyoxjzHqaVoFn7InMg

    Great gig last night.
Vini Lopez was in fine form. He performed 3 Steel Mill songs.
One for the connoisseurs of all things Springsteen.

    Springsteen on Broadway - Netflix
    December 16th
    Springsteen on Broadway.
Some might say that Springsteen is a kind of a gruff-talking Santa for grown men and women. This year he’s spreading some cheer by giving Netflix exclusive access to his one man show, cleverly titled Springsteen on Broadway (although the Boss on Broadway may have been more alliteratively pleasing) where he strums some tunes and talks openly and emotionally about his inspirations and life as one of the great American storytellers.

NEW LIVE SAMPLER: SONGS OF THE ROAD
Live archive tracks come to streaming services
Maybe you haven't taken the plunge on Springsteen's monthly live archive series (we won't judge — not much). Or maybe you've been selective, not keeping up with each and every release. Or maybe you just like a good mix tape. In any case, this comes as fun news: tracks from the Nugs releases at live.springsteen.com have just arrived on streaming services today, via what appears to be a new series of curated playlists.

The first to drop in The Live Series on Spotify and Apple Music is Songs of the Road, with thematic selections spanning from 1977 to 2013:

    1
    Thunder Road
Palace Theatre, Albany, NY - 02/07/77
    2

    15
    Cadillac Ranch
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, NY - 12/31/80
Killer performances, a great mix of band line-ups and solo performances, this looks to be a great way to expose more listeners to not only some more obscure Springsteen songs, but the brilliance and variety of his live performances. What's next? Songs of Protest? Songs of Family? Songs of Womens' Names? Songs of Rivers and Trees? Songs of Blue Collar Occupations? We'll be staying tuned.

Didn't Vinny sing Keep Me In Your Heart (Warren Zevon) just before the usual Light Of Day ending?

I thought it was a great ending and Vinny on form.

What about that guy over on the left Anthony DaMato? I thought he was class. I bought his first album last night, very good.

Never saw Mark Geary before, thought he had a great rhythm.

Vinny was Vinny with stories and songs going back to the early Bruce days.

And I think the best of the three Light Of Day gigs so far.

All in all great value for €25. That's some schedule of gigs that they are doing for charity.

Bruce Springsteen has revealed that he is working on a new solo album and is planning to tour the UK with his E Street Band.

The Boss is currently performing in his sell-out one-man show ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ that has been filmed for a Netflix concert film to be aired on December 16.

Speaking to The Times, Springsteen described his new record, saying: “For lack of a better word, it’s a singer-songwriter album – more of a solo record.” This album would his first new music release since 2014’s ‘High Hopes’.

Hinting about future touring plans, Springsteen said he will be getting “back to my day job” and heading to the UK with the E Street Band in 2019. He might just have itchy feet, he has been performing ‘Springsteen on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre five days a week since October 2017.

This month, Springsteen will release the ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ soundtrack album with performances of 15 of his best-loved songs from throughout his career.

Although the show has mostly followed the same structure and setlist every night, Springsteen has changed things up a little throughout the run. In June, he broke from the setlist to criticise Donald Trump and his “inhumane” immigration policy that saw thousands of children separated from their families. A month later, he surprised fans with an unexpected encore for the first time in the residency.

He is.I read the article as saying whenever a tour happens, maybe next year that there will be shows in the UK as part of a European tour.People jumping to conclusions that it is a definite.

    That's that for 2019 anyway

'Just a note to quell some of the rumors over here on E Street. While we hope to be back with you soon, the E Street Band won’t be touring in 2019. Before I go back to my day job, the year will be consumed with a break after our Broadway run and various recording projects I’ve been working on. We do hope to see you soon, and until then, we have some mighty E Streeters out there regularly performing with their own projects who’d love and deserve your support. All love and Happy Holidays!

    - Bruce Springsteen'

Fair play to him for coming out with that. A lot of people would've been holding off on buying things, booking holidays waiting to book flights, hotels etc.

and he needs a rest after all those 236 broadway 2 hour shows 5 days a week he did so im not complaining about it.

@ dixiefly Re "Didn't Vinny sing Keep Me In Your Heart (Warren Zevon) just before the usual Light Of Day ending"? - Yes, sorry you are correct.

I agree it was the best of the 3 Light Of Day shows in Dublin. I enjoyed all the acts involved but my main interest was Jeffrey Gaines. I first seen him supporting Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in the Point in 1992. I went to both nights and bought Gaine's debut album straight away and have been a fan ever since.
How he is not huge I dont know.

Lucky to have met and chatted with him at each of the LOD shows. He actually put up a photo of us from last weeks show on HIS facebook page. Good times.

You'll be blown away, hoping/assuming they capture the live experience which was entertaining, uplifting, sad, joyous and emotional.

I've struggled to about halfway through now. Seems to be a longer version of the VH1 Storytellers he did.

I'm not that sort of Bruce fan in fairness so its not for me. I couldn't get through the book or the In His Own Words documentary either. Controversial maybe but I find anyone talking about themselves for that long fairly boring. Even Bruce.

A few of the performance are great though!

He called into EStreet radio yesterday morning.

    Main points

He may do something similar to the Broadway thing internationally.

Hes "going back to his day job" doing new music and "rock music" and see where it takes him.

Yeah, Bruce can be quite "wordy" with his stories all right, I felt the same reading his book. I'm still ridiculously looking forward to this though.

Let's all take a minute and imagine it in the Olympia though................

Oh no doubt. And from what I've heard from people who were there the film and audio release only capture a taste of what it was really like.

It won't happen in any Irish venue don't get ur hopes up

Might be lucky in the residents bar of wherever Bruce stays when he's gigging here. Wasant it in some hotel in Kilkenny in 2013 that Bruce along with Glen Hansard and Damien Dempsey played til all hours in the resident bar ?

Hence the Block lettered IF in my post but its reassuring to know we have someone with your insight on the forum that has 100% confirmed it won't be happening and not to get my hopes up.

Thanks Doc, incredible sound on those.

I've spent most of the night listening to Bruce doing 4 hours in Philly in 2016, thanks to Olli, I don't think Bruce sang anything post 75 until up to about 1.55, and he was only warming up the crowd, would have been worth the flight and another show to follow two nights later.......
