Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Whilst watching the pride of the UK military screeching across the London skies, the thought that the Irish Air Corps were operating in the UK at the same time did bring a wry smile to my face.

    Dear Mr Knucklehead6, you know as well as I do that the appearance of anything that mentions the Armed Forces of the UK, or even the UK, on this forum sets a lot of people's hair on fire.

    The RAF was responsible for an existential contribution to Britains defence in 1940 because without the formation of the worlds first integrated air defence system and contributions to it from Hugh Dowding, Robert Watson-Watt and Keith Parks Britain would have surrendered to the Nazis and all the top people, including Churchill and the Royal Family would have been killed off.

    It is salutary to see the present Queen gazing at the current crop of combat planes, probably reflecting on the debt she and her family owe to the fighting prowess of the Air Force in the 1940's.

    Best of luck to the Service for its second 100 yrs.
