Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well if you could go back in time what year/s would you go back to and why? For me it would be 2001-2004. Preferably 2004 though.

Any hints on why 2004 ?

For me , 1986 , behind the community centre with a young one who's name escapes me at about 1.30am on a bank holiday weekend.

Can't put a year on it, but I had an absolute ball in my 30's.. Hit the doldrums in my 40's and having a blast again in my 50's.

I probably loved the late 90's to early 2000's best.

I’d go back and become an apostle. Imagine Jesus had a man on his team that knew the future.

I’d **** that Judas motherfuther up that’s for damn sure. Sneaky.

2002. I was 9 years old in 2nd class, Robbie Keane netted one against Germany and we had nothing but time.

Jesus was a smug wanker! Someone else would betray him if Judas didn’t.

    1986.

Fell in with a couple of pricks in school. Was doing very well education wise until I became friends with those pair. Placed no value on study or learning. Missed a big life opportunity because of that.

1998... I spent the summer living and working in Paris.. had an absolute ball. I was 19, the world cup was on, we managed to blag tickets for a handful of games including the Italy vs France semi...down the Champs Elysses after France winning the final with thousands of people which was an experience not to be forgotten.. a wonderful summer... I get goosebumps whenever I step back into that city, incredible.

I'd go back to the early 2000's and I think I'd go to a different secondary school and be myself more!

Can I go back to a time I didn't exist in? For example, the 1960's.. I love hearing my dad talk about that decade. Youngest president of America ever, the boxing champion of the world was a 21 year old black kid, and the rock and roll music scene was up and running with a lot of groovy festivals around. It really sounds like a decade for the young!

1983. To see Dublin win the game of shame. A team of absolute no hopers that May ended up battling their way to an All Ireland on a stormy September day.

Actually, Teddy Roosevelt was younger than JFK when he became president.

Mid '80's. So I could have met the love of my life decades sooner and we may have been able to start a family.

Only useful of course if I could go back in time with the present knowledge I have of who he is and where I could then find him, otherwise it's a needle in a haystack even if I had the right country.

And actually it would have have been very difficult to move there anyway because he was literally walled in to a country that didn't readily accept foreigners so there's that roadblock. Literally. :pac:

Still would have loved to try though.

    :D

Would have been about as effective and got me carted off to a padded cell by Die Politzei.

There were some Westerners who actually did move to the GDR though believe it or not. For political reasons of course, but also a few American soldiers who decided to defect when they were stationed in the BRD. Some black American soldiers felt life might be better for them there than back home in their own country, which says a lot about how they were treated. :(

    1992.

I'd rather up all the previous years leaving cert papers.

Then I'd go back to 1991 and get straight "A's"

August 2017-March 2018. So many terrible decisions made in the space of such a small time. I hope to be able to correct all of them permanently someday soon.

There was a recent documentary on Duff. Apparently the kick to head didn't connect and the guy on the receiving end of the boot told Duff's wife as much the day after the match. It looked horrendous on tv. But what a game. Absolute mayhem from start to finish. The best defensive display of Gaelic football I have ever seen.

2017 for me, I made a decision that wasn't good, which set me back a bit health wise, it took 2 years to get me back to myself :) If i went back, I wouldn't make that decision again..

Going on the going back to a specific time in your life to change something approach, I could write the most complicated PI post on various things I could have done slightly differently and how I've played out all the scenarios in my head since. In the most plausible one I'm the drivetime presenter on a UK radio network and living with my (now direly bored of me) (former) underwear model husband in a penthouse apartment in Manchester :pac:

I'd rather enjoy being 19/20/21 in 1999, with the income and outgoings level I had when I was actually 21 (engineering role in a medtech firm); but with current hindsight of what were the best things to do and go to. I'd be in ever clubbing hotspot in Dublin, Birmingham/Sheffield/Leeds or Ibiza on any given weekend, taking all the drugs, riding anyone that was up for it and meeting every hero. When I actually was 21 everything was incredibly boring.
