Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Department of Social Protection uses mobile tracking?

    I read on Boards.ie that the Department of Social Protection uses mobile phone tracking to track people on state benefits. Is there any truth to this rumour? Would they ask for such tracking data during an investigation?

    I severely doubt they are using mobile tracking as I suspect that would be highly illegal for the mobile providers to give them that information, I would imagine what is been referred to is that if the social try ring when your outside the country they will know your outside the country due to the ring tone.

    Its true , but only to check if your in Ireland.
    They check if the ss7 signaling if goes outside ireland, and flag it

    I'd very much doubt it, besides if this data can't be used in criminal trials, its hardly worth the effort to check up on claimants physical location as any evidence gained is useless for the purposes of an investigation . It further raises All sorts of Data protection, intrusion and civil rights concerns, not to mention mobile phone service providers having some questions to answer.

    I would however suspect they could, (not saying do) , track IP addresses for people logging into mywelfare accounts, PUP recepients have been requested many times to log into their accounts to read / access notifications, normally requesting eligibility checks. I'd suspect someone logging in from outside the state might be asked to explain themselves, of course just an opinion.
