School history books say certain unscrupulous Protestants offered Catholics soup during the Potato Famine in exchange for conversion. I was wondering:

    1. Are there any reliable sources stating this actually happened?
    2. Which sect was it: Methodist, C of I, Presbyterian?
    3. Where in Ireland, and to what extent?
    4. Were the new "converts" accepted into their new church?

    thanks.
