    Or that’s the match

    Trent Seven or a debut?

So this starts at 7pm with preshow at 630.
So why was a big deal being made about being on the same day as AEW? Somehow, I doubt there were many torn about which to attend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

NJPW Royal Quest starts at 5.30 in London so it was probably more to do with that rather than AEW.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,304 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

First I heard that mentioned. Was all AEW when they first announced it.

Anyway, I just half watch the weekly UK shows so not too worried about who wins.
I'm sure Walter will win though

Was probably just the one poster who supposedly didn't watch WWE but was obsessed with everything they did and would link anything they did to AEW. Just need to spend 60 seconds on twitter to find hundreds more like that.

That's what I mean. Triple H even addressed it at the time saying the arena was booked long ago and just waited til closer the time to announce

What look like three great cards on paper either way, not a bad weekend to be a wrestling fan. Okada/Suzuki and KENTA/Ishii will be hard beat, but if Cesaro and Dunnes paths cross that match won't be far behind.

  • Registered Users Posts: 242 ✭✭Ali Bomaye

Would definitely bet on saying this show is happening as a reaction to Royal Quest happening in London the same day. Maybe not but considering the timing of the first UK tournament and the start of the brand proper being clear reactions to WOS, and them using NXT proper to counter program AEW, I find it hard to believe this isn't a reaction to another promotion too.

    Any boardsie travelling over ??

Be pretty nice weekend esp with the Rugby been on in Cardiff too

They've a two hour TV show starting soon, no need for them to shoot their load this quick by having the match at a UK Takeover and could give the lads a proper TV feud.

    Cesaro is pure class.

    Pretty solid match

Cheeky 'are you watching Vince McMahon chant' lol

I wonder will we ever see NXT UK takeover Dublin in the 3arena ???. They could market it as first ever international NXT UK show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,919 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Great main event

I wonder will any of these guys ever make it to the main roster ???. Theres just something about them that would not feel right on Raw or SD

    Walter=Rusev II

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,195 ✭✭✭ThePott

Good show overall not that I usually watch NXT UK.
Enjoyed the Coffey and Mastiff match. Cesaro match with Dragunov was good as much as I was hoping for a different opponent.
Women's championship was really good but kinda felt the ending was lacking just didn't have much impact.

Walter/Bate was fantastic if not a big long.

Walter is different planet in-ring to Rusev. He looks like a badass too that would rip your head off. Rusev looks like a cuddly toy.

Can I just say Tyler bate is best in-ring wrestler on planet right now. This dude got the entire arena on their feet for a suplex. His psychology is amazing.

Let's hope not, the main roster is absolutely bloated enough, without adding more bodies to the pile.

Would Vince like someone of Tyler Bate's size doing all those impressive power moves to the likes of Roman, Drew, Braun etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,804 ✭✭✭Sirsok

Tag Match was great, best match of the night for me

    Mastiff and Coffey up there

Bate and Walter was Masterclass, but was a bit long. Still though nearly an hour, and the pace they kept was quite impressive.

  • Registered Users Posts: 242 ✭✭Ali Bomaye

Walter v Bate did a great job holding my attention throughout considering it was so long.

The 'Are you watching, Vince McMahon' chants are so hilariously stupid. They've paid to go to a show that's part of Vince's company to chant that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,304 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Triple H addressed the chants in the post show Q&A saying he sees all.

Was wondering did Toni get injured or something from how the match ended.
Also wasn't sure about the rope breaking being intentional or not. Think only one move was really affected so if it was accidental, they covered it well. Probably helped by the type of match it was. Ending was kinda strange though.
I like Tyler Bate though not sure I like the Hulking up that he does. Seems weird to no-sell moves from Walter

Robbie brookside or regal ? I mean they tape what once a month or two days a month to cover two months ? I doubt Tom Phillips is going over and calling it from the UK. You’d assume it’s done from the PC.

I’ve watched it on the network kind of but the two episodes a week early on may have burnt fans out.

I mainly watch the takeovers and see results of the tapings on social media

I wonder how long this brand will actually last

Takeover Blackpool 2 taking place tomorrow night. Bit weird as I'm used to NXT takeovers been on Saturdays not sundays

WWE United Kingdom Championship: WALTER (c) vs. Joe Coffey

NXT UK Tag Team Championship (Ladder match): Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) (c) vs. Imperium (Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) vs. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster

NXT UK Women's Championship: Kay Lee Ray (c) vs. Toni Storm vs. Piper Niven

    Trent Seven vs. Eddie Dennis

    Tyler Bate vs. Jordan Devlin

Well probably not but it depends how serious Kay lee Rays shoulder injury is. I know she wrestling tomorrow so you'd pressume she's cleared.

Yeah it had a block of three hours but only went 2 and a 1/2. Devlin and bate should be on the Best matches of 2020 this time next year. Superb stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,168 ✭✭✭oneilla

The punch sequence in Devlin Bate reminded me of Ishii Shibata from G1 2013.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,919 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Any other Irish wrestlers on the horizon ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,304 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Don't think Walter was all there for the match from early on. Seemed to be covering his head. Surprised it went as long as it did and that the attack still happened. I know they were setting up Worlds collide.

Crazy recovery for the Webster/Andrews ladder spot. I'm thinking they were planning on doing separate swantons on each of Gallus, but the table breaking early for one just gave the crowd a bigger spot.

HHH mentioned the deal to get NXT UK on BT Sports on the post show. Just saying more people will get to see the show weekly.

Enjoyed the Takeover show. Probably only the 3rd NXT UK show I've seen. I think part of the appeal was that it was on at a good time (for us at least) and that it was very accessible in that you didn't need to know any backstory coming into any of these matches to enjoy them more than you would have if you were just a casual, once-off viewer like myself.

Really enjoyed Devlin/Bate, probably just a notch below being a real MOTYC but excellent and well worth going out of your way to see.

The ladder match had literally all of the WWE ladder match tropes, it's a style of match that either desperately needs to be re-jigged, done less or, my favoured option, retired permanently. That being said, the lads in it worked hard, took some big bumps and, if you still gain enjoyment from this type of match, I thought it was one of better ones I've seen recently.

Main event was long, Walter is wonderful and even in the toned down setting still comes across as being special. How long that will last I don't know, having a jacked up mid carder like Coffey scoring visual pinfalls over him probably wont help in that respect. The crowd did get into it but Coffey as a face is strange, Coffey being a headliner consistently on these big shows is even stranger. Fine match, bit patchy in places, definitely on the lower end of the Walter big match scale.
