Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Found this little one on the side of the road yesterday looking pretty distressed bouncing around the place.
Eventually flew up to a bit of a height so reckoned it was OK.

Any idea what it is? Some type of finch?

Edit: Closest I can find is a zebra finch so maybe an escaped pet? Would explain how I could get so close.

Kinda northern cardinal but not quite...and missing the crest. Maybe young?

    Are these kept in captivity?

Edit: zebra finch apparently... probably escapee.

It appears to be a reflection. I took a number of shots and dont see any ring in them. The comorant was about 80m away from me on a bright sunny day.

A new visitor to the garden the other morning. He paced around for a couple of minutes before moving on. Unfortunately, I didn't have the slr to hand.

I left a bowl of cat food out, near where he visited and he made 2 return visits last night...

Rossacroo Wood near Kilgarvan, Co Kerry today.

Not sure on the names of these, trying to identify them with online resources.

Fairly sure the first one is Sulphur Tuft

The lovely mandarin duck. I've come across them a handful of times on the Royal Canal between Ashtown and Blanchardstown in the past few years. Set out on a whim to see if I could find one today with my camera and delighted I did!

Some pics of swallow chicks I took near Dubrovnik over the summer.
The nest was above the door to a busy pharmacy. I took the pictures from the other side of the road so as to not disturb the nest.
