Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

All out of contract, all over 30, huge wage savings to help rebuild with.

Looks extreme but they would have had little or no involvement next season.
Whelan and Hutton would have made the biggest contribution this season but both mid 30s now, simply couldn't contribute next season.

Huge job for the management team ahead to get the squad ready.

Leaves a big hole in the squad though. Assuming 8 replacements are needed plus a couple of decent level players to actually stay up.

Whats the going rate for a full premier league 11?

is the 14 players left thing true? If so i'd assume 11 needed at least.

Jagielka leaves Everton. I'd be very suprised if he doesnt join Sheffield United.

Old Trafford and Anfield are the only two grounds that will not have VAR explainer graphics due to being the only two stadia without a screen. Which is possibly a bit embarrassing - I know old school is part of the thing with both clubs but it's probably time to get with the TV age! Maybe they'll just provide a man with flags to perform semaphore in the centre circle.

There's nowhere they can put one in Anfield really!

Going to have to add a big screen to the Anfield Road redevelopment.

Wasn’t there a temporary one in for a game recently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,895 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Yes there was one put in the last week for a rugby game.

They had indeed. Think it was some super league rugby, or similar event.

It seems to block out a number of rows of seats where it is. Probably the lowest number of seats that it found affect. A home premier league game would be a different matter I think.

If there was the motivation for it, you could actually skip the big screen phase altogether, and instead offer a wifi intranet connection, with a stream showing a special feed with the VAR stuff etc. Could be kind of interesting as a way around it.

What are VAR explainer graphics? Are they going to show VAR replays in grounds? Don't teams not do this now because, like you know, riots?

50-75k people streaming from the same location would take quite a bit of bandwidth, plus the weirdness of seeing a goal scored, a bit of confusion, taking the phone out, opening the stream and waiting for it to load. The decision would be over by then. Lots of phones would be broken too each time from celebrations, annoyance etc.

Nice idea, but not really workable. In Anfield, the only permanent homes for screen would be one on the top of the Kop and Anfield Road end. Anywhere else would be obscuring views.

Any ground without a screen all VAR decisions will be announced over the PA system

The new Anfield Road end will have to incorporate a screen when that goes ahead.

New season PL fixtures announced on Thursday morning. Doesn't be long coming around. Pre-season training will start in 3 weeks (give or take) for players not playing in other tournaments this summer.

More ***** looking at their phones during the match? That will be the game well and truly dead then.

Don't download any Premier League app in a hurry anyways! La Liga bosses caught listening to people's microphones and identifying who bars were showing illegal streams.

    https://en.as.com/en/2019/06/12/football/1560346047_579428.html

It's pretty freaky and a total ethical breach, but at the same time kinda cool that this is how technology is being used.

What I took from this article :(
.....for a LaLiga subscription, while regular households make monthly payments of between 10 and 30 euros.

While here for Premier League this season we’ll need to pay for Sky Sports, still waiting on Sky to announce how they’re going to sell on BT Sport subs after they’ve become the main vendor again, likewise with Premier Sports.

Liverpool v Everton, United v Spurs (early December) and Leicester v Liverpool, United v Newcastle and Wolves v City (Stephens Day) are going to be shown on Amazon Prime.

Edit: they're actually showing all games on the 3/4/5th December and Stephens Day.

United have a lovely run in no top 6 team from March 15th onwards ,

Is there not supposed to be a winter break this year in the PL?

The only problem with that is they have to play Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and City between January and mid March.

There is between 2nd January and 10th January.

The winter break is in February, it's made up of 2 weekends of 5 fixtures so there will still be matches on each week. United will be away to Chelsea on either the 8th or 15th Feb, it hasnt been determined yet which teams will be playing which week.. that will come with the TV fixtures I'd say

Is the January gap an FA cup week then?

VPN will be needed for that.

I was clearly outlining the lengths people will have to go to watch legally.

Doesn't guarantee anything though unfortunately, as Liverpool can attest.

Everybody still has to play everyone home and away, it's what makes the League the grueling benchmark for successful teams that it is.

Obviously no guarantees in football but if your deep into Champions league knockout games not ideal playing the big six between games against Barcelona or Madrid for instance,

Poor Everton drew the Short straw with their December fixtures.

Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Burnley, Newcastle, City (1.1.20).

Five of the top 6 in a month

Shouldn't the Champions really be the team kick off the season in defence of there title.

    In theory it makes sense.

Don't think it's ever been like that though, United Leicester played the opening game of the season last year.

Henry Winter posted a list of TV dates earlier - might be worth bookmarking or pinning the image to the top of thread as it tends to come up a lot.

Gonna be interesting to see Pubs showing matches on Amazon. Is this only effective this year or was it also last year? Don't recall Amazon having rights last year
Might work in Dublin but outside of the city’s it be a disaster with freezing

Amazon Prime games will be on Premier Sports in ROI, as will a number of Saturday 3pm games.

Amazon games don't apply to us in the Republic at all

I see Sergio Ramos finished the season with as many goals as Rashford but in less game

I have access to all the UK content on my Prime account. It's not the limited Irish selection.

I can’t see Premier Sports paying all that money for the Irish broadcast rights to that package only to sit idly by and watch Amazon grant UK access to every Irish Prime sub who requests it.
