Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Great penalty

Some pace to the Frankfurt-Arsenal match. Virtually all non-stop attacking with little control from either side.

Mental match between Apoel and Dudelange. Dudelange went 2-0 up. Then Apoel came back and went into a 3-2 lead in a five minute spell. Dudelange equalized and now lead 4-3.

Celtic down to ten men in stoppage time. Bayo gets a second yellow. Rennes also down to ten because of an injury and no subs. Ref has struggled in this game.

The ref has lost it, Bayo did not even touch him

Ends 1-1 in France. Draw probably a fair result. Rennes on top in the first half but Celtic better in the second. Good game by Christie.

Arsenal ran out 3-0 winners in the end against Eintracht. Lazio lose 2-1 at Cluj.

Think I'll give Wolves vs Braga a watch for the evening game. Looking forward to seeing how Doherty gets on. He has his work cut out for him as he's up against Ricardo Horta who is in good form.
Wolves XI: Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Gibbs-White, Castro; Jimenez, Cutrone.

Braga XI: Matheus; Esgaio, Viana, dos Santos, Sequeira; Fransergio, Palhinha, Andre Horta, Ricardo Horta; Paulinho, Galeno.

Half-Time at Molyneux and it's goalless. Wolves have done well but haven't been able to make their chances count. Cutrone had a great opportunity but dragged it wide.

United goalless at home to Astana which is disappointing. Biggest upset so far is surely in Germany where Gladbach are losing 3-0 at home to Austrian side Wolfsberg.

Dudelange won in Cyprus where Irish clubs usually fail....

And it's that man Ricardo Horta who gives them the lead. Bennett the one at fault for giving the ball away.

It ends at Molineux and Wolves have been beaten by Braga. Wolves didn't have their shooting boots on but managed to shoot themselves in the foot with a defensive error. Braga got their tactics spot on. Defended really well and hit them on the break when it counted. They dealt with Doherty well and were aware of his threat. Cutrone was wasteful.

I see United crawled over the line against Astana. Nice to see Greenwood score.

Gladbach losing 4-0 at home is a big shock.
Decided to have a go at UEFA's Fantasy 5 game. You have to choose 5 players from the matchday plus a captain. No restrictions on positions or the amount of players you go for. No budget either. Here's the 5 I went with:

    Dost vs Arsenal (H)
    Weghorst vs Olexandriya (H)
    Jota vs Braga (H)
    Greenwood vs Astana (H)
Niang vs Celtic (H) - Captain.

Ended up with 76 points as the captain gets triple in this game apparently. Greenwood scored and Weghorst got an assist. Dost and Jota turned out to be dud picks.

Really surprised with the Rangers & Wolves results.
Wolves were only eclipsed last weekend by a Sakho inspired Palace in terms of having the most utterly embarrassing performance as they beyond useless vs Chelsea. They can't rotate as much as they want to as they bought a few pretty ordinary players who haven't improved the squad. They have nobody who can cover at centre back & Adama Traore apparently qualifies as right wing back now???

I want to weep looking at that United side. Bloody hell, what a sorry state of affairs when that's your line-up. That is grim. Not been following the Eredivisie so I don't know much about Alkmaar - Vlaar I think is the only name in their XI I recognise - but surely a decent side can given that United team some problems.

More notable names in the Besiktas side, and their left side can cause Doherty some problems. Will be a test for him. Hope he does well. Wolves need a result.

I'm playing the Fantasy 5 game on UEFA's site where you choose 5 players you think will score tonight. Here's the ones I've gone for:
    Immobile vs Rennes (H)
Aubameyang (capt.) vs Standard Liege (H)
Ricardo Horta vs Slovan Brastislava (H)
Wout Weghorst vs St Etienne (A)
    Bruno Fernandes vs LASK (H)

Fred likes giving the ball away!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Fred has been such a dreadful signing. Amazing he is still at the club.

Rangers are winning away at Young Boys. Morelos with the goal.

Rangers all over Young Boys. Giving them a right seeing to.

    #nevergetsold:P Just like them...

Ten minutes to go and United still haven't had a shot on target.

Wolves take the lead late on in Turkey. It's been an atrocious game of football it must be said.
    Full time 1-0

    Famous draw for Manchester Utd.

It ends 0-0 between AZ and United. Not a single shot on target all game for Man United. Thank goodness there is a manager that GETS the club and knows all about free-flowing, attacking football.

We now go live to Solskjaer's former teammate, United pundits:

"Ole needs more time. Just give him another transfer window or two."

Solskjaer is United's Steve Staunton. A legend of a player who was appointed to a managerial role he had absolutely no right to get by people who hadn't a clue what they were doing. Both destined to fail and both ruined their legacies.

Only an absolute moron would say oles tenure has tainted his legacy. He is and always will be a club legend. He was offered his dream job took it, the same way anyone of us would have. It was always going to end in failure but thats as much (more so imo) on the people at the top of the club as it is Ole.

    Pleased Wolves got the win.

Going to give Lazio vs Rennes a watch. Big game for 16 year old Eduardo Camavinga in midfield for Rennes.

He will probably go down as the worst United manager of all time, certainly of modern times. Of course that taints his legacy, particularly if he leaves the club as a mid-table also-ran which is looking increasingly likely.

Why does it taint his legacy?

He was a legendary player and that doesn't change.

You yourself called for him to be given the job, as did many other fans even though his pedigree in management or lack there of was abundantly clear.

Staunton was also a legendary player for Ireland with over 100 caps for his country. There's no denying however his time as coach of Ireland has tainted his legacy, wouldn't you say? When people think of Staunton do they just think of the player that was sweating buckets on the field, or do they also think of 'I'm the gaffer. What I say goes.'

Calling for Solskjaer to get the job when he was getting good results is one thing; calling for him to continue to keep the job when he is getting some of the worst results in the club's history is another matter entirely. That's what really moronic.

Who is calling for him to be kept on? The only ones on boards calling for him to be kept are either rival fans or United fans that blamed Jose for everything and are choosing to die on the hill of Ole. As for Staunton, his tenure as manager does not, for me at least, change the fact he was a quality player and that's how I'll remember him.
