republic of ireland soccer team and the lgbt numbers on their shirts

being from out of town but always supporting the team i was caught by suprise when i saw the numbers on their shirts . so i began to wonder if the ownership of the team had moved from f. i. a.to lgbt. maybe someone could give an answer . anton.joe
