Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Okay, if he didn't have a tax bill he might! Anyway, himself and Daly have been highlighting mismanagement of Shannon Airport, and he has been looking into NAMA where it doesn't look like the management agency was looking after the national assets in the best intentions.

He was only so diligent around NAMA as he was trying to find a loophole to get out of his own debts, don't mistake it for any sort of altruism

    James Connolly.

Born into poverty, was key in establishing and leading trade union struggle in Ireland and rejecting sectarianism. Founded the Irish Citizen Army, the first Red Army in Europe. Analysed Ireland’s independence struggle not through a romantic nationalist lens but through the eyes of working class people who were struggling. Gave his life for Irish freedom.

Wallace's noise around NAMA only ever centred on companies which had purchased Wallace's own legacy debts. It was all about what's in it for Mick.

Someone who stole his employee's pension contributions isn't one I'd ever put on a pedestal. Throw in the sheltering of assets by transferring to family members and he's giving the Quinn family a run for their money.

His current stance on Belarus shows yet another example of where his moral compass lies.

Thomas Clarke ~ ~ Got the Irish People off their Knees. Its sad that the Irish People were more than happy to get back down there.

Even Thomas Clarke could Only Get the Irish People off their Knees for a Relatively Short Period of Time.

We will need Thomas Clarke again and hopefully we will see Thomas Clarke Again !

Let’s consider a few of his highlights:

He took VAT from purchasers and failed to pass it on the Revenue.

He misappropriated employee pension contributions. Made the deductions from payroll then kept the money instead of passing it to the construction pension fund.

He transferred assets to family members (e.g. his vineyard) to keep them from his debtors.

He is clearly not in it for the money.

After reconsidering my opinion, I hereby denounce my affiliation to Wallace and strike him from the esteemed list henceforth.

Current choices would include Pearse Doherty, Mick Wallace, Clare Daly, Ming, Catherine Connolly, Joan Collins, Eamon O Cuiv and Ireland's first female Taoiseach in waiting and first leader who will not hail from either FF or FG Mary Lou McDonald. I am including MLM on the hope that if given the chance a change would do the country good.

Reasons being they either fight against corrupt practises and/or represent the interests of their constituents without using the office as a meal ticket. Those mentioned, in my opinion at least, would do the job they do without pay.

Clare Daly, defender of the workers rights? Hows that complaint against her going?

The single biggest ladder out of poverty in this country has been the free secondary education declared by Donogh O'Malley in his solo run. I know that my 4 siblings and I would have had it provided anyhow but by god would it have left my parents in penury to pay for it. However not all parents would have done that and it has laid the foundation of our modern economy. So, not hard to predict, but mine is Donogh O'Malley

No hero. I don't believe in that but aired would have to be John Hume. He seemed a decent honest politician. A rareity.

I saw him in a Pub in Mayo over 30/35 years ago doing a FF thing ~ ~ I kid you not ~ ~ He looked like a slimy slippery yoke in a shiny slippery looking suit and his hair greased back ! !

If you were making a film about such a politicians and how that sort of politician looked in his earlier days he was perfect for the role.

I was in the Pub for other reasons ~ ~ honest ! !

FF is exactly where Mary Lou hailed from.

I've no axe to grind with her though she is a capable politician but she is from the same wealthy middle class backround as the rest of them.

Charles Stewart Parnell seemed to be a decent politician, someone the present shower of well paid trough feeders fall well short of.
