Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How high can you build a bank to level your lawn? There's a slope at the rear of my house that goes to a 7 foot drop at the boundary, its dangerous when mowing the lawn with the tractor lawnmower and I would like to level out lawn. Not sure what's the best way to support the bank?

You need an engineer to design a retaining wall.

just be aware that raising or lowering the ground level by more than 1 metre would require planning permission

You will also need PP for the RW as it will be over 8 feet from your neighbours side
It would be a big, expensive job, do you have access for heavy plant and machinery

It's an interesting question, though. Presumably it is defined as 1m over the 'original' level, but how long before we accept the current level as the original level? Presumably if my great grandfather raised the level 0.9m in 1889 they won't count that against me. What if my father did it 20 years ago?
