Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Some of my best memories of early clubbing and getting into the whole dance scene are from the old 3Lux and X-Mix mixes, tracks and videos. Frequently played on MTV's Chill Out Zone and Party Zone in the early to mid 90's, I loved every minute of them back then and have craved seeing them again for a long time.

I'm pretty strict with the smoke, Friday nights only these days :D Although I'm tempted to stretch that to tonight this week as its been a tough one :pac:

Yeah I rarely go to NI, not the same at all as it was. It was great when we were all sticking up tunes for the first time but that couldn't last forever and it seems to be just endless repeats now. Some crackin tunes stuck up alright on those Sundays :pac:

Nice one on X-Mix 1, I'll rip part 3 and stick it up too.

I used to have a 4 hour VHS tape full of videos too, all sorts of stuff from back then. I remember then a few years ago I went looking for it and there was a rented video in its case which I had got months before from Xtra Vision - figured pretty quickly that the f*ckin wrong tape had gone back to Xtra Vision :(

    Dr Devious :pac:

Yeah we defo need to sign up to her blog :D Lets get a party going and invite her over as the special guest... that would be fckin cool actually

Yes, I loved them when they came on Partyzone on MTV on Friday night. My favourite X Mix cd is the Dave Angel one follow by X Mix 1. On the DVD for X Mix 4, there is an additional Dave Angel song called Lagoon, one of the best songs ive ever heard - I never get sick of it (except the bass is a little heavy in it).

I remember Marusha getting interviewed on Partyzone back in 94 and was saying that one of her favourite tunes was the Mike Dearborn - Deviant Behaviour track on the Laurent Gariner X Mix. I love the track too plus Original man by D Angel also.

Theres a few other tunes knocking around of a similar vain but didnt appear on any X mix cds - Dave Angel - Abyss, Sven Vath - Harlequin (http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=yO5QL_8OJ8c) etc.

Yeah Dave Angel has always been quality. Only got that R&S reissue of his Classics a few months back, excellent stuff.

Excellent Sven Vath track too, absolute classic.

I still haven't got around to watching all of these DVD's yet!

Yes, his Classics album has some gems. My favourites are Great Daine and track 5. Cant remember what is called. Doh!

Heres another Sven Vath one: http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=QoRnufMvxQ4&feature=related

Great tunes, haven't listened to the first track from Polygon Window in ages. The 2nd track is excellent too by Richard H Kirk, Warp used a still from that video for the cover of the first Artificial Intelligence compilation.

    3 lux: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CilX8JIMXR4
Theres a vid for Schottkey 7th path by AFX but it aint on You tube. MTV played it one night back in 2005 I remember.

  • Subscribers Posts: 8,322 ✭✭✭Scubadevils

Ah good stuff, I certainly remember watching that one on acid :pac: Love Autechre actually, except the most recent album which is a bit difficult to get into.

That Biosphere track is amazing too, have watched most of the 3 Lux DVD alright. If I knew how to rip from the DVD I would stick up that AFX track also.

I still haven't watched all of the X-Mix DVD's, must fit them in before I go back to work on Monday :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,194 ✭✭✭Andrewf20

Yes that Biosphere tune is a great track. Still havent got to see 3 lux on vid. Footage on Y tube seems scarce too. :(

    And more!

yeah know what you mean, we had the exact same nights - and then whoever owned the gaf might eventually announce that the parents would be home soon so we'd have to leg it... and there would come the next stage of the night, walking what would normally take 10 minutes but takes 3 hours in a complete fcked up tripped state! And then finally home, creep in the door and up the stairs to bed, in bed with walkman on - in my case then probably Aphex Twin or some mix, tripped off your head in bed with the tunes bangin away!

By fck do I miss my youth!!! :(

We actually liked the buzz of wandering around after being kicked out of a gaf, it became part of the night... standing outside a chipper trying to decide who'd go in to buy the cans of coke, or the 24 hour garage for smokes and skins... it was all part of the buzz! You'd be craving though hearing some tunes alright, and when you eventually got home it was great sticking on the headphones - the sound was unreal on a trip, especially having being wandering for a few hours.
