Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes it reopened today and they're doing deliveries too. According to a post on the Rivervalley FB page:

Sound thanks, junior will be delighted!

Had GFP Swords last night, limited menu, but arrived piping hot and as delicious as normal, they deliver wine and beer too which is always handy ;)

I heard Tony's chipper might be re-opening with a limit of 3 in the shop at a time? If true, you'd expect there'll be a queue outside at times and it's hard to see how that's going to pan out on weekends with the queue for Aldi stretching down to Peacock's too...hopefully they can make it work though as I'd hate to see it going under.

Its the new norm, they have to make it work or they will be asked to shut down collection only.
TBH Tony's has kinda gone downhill over the years, the portions are terrible.

I haven't been to Tony's in years, they never seemed to expand the menu like most other chippers.

Ruby's are now selling meal kits. They're also having a flash sale - €75 vouchers for €50.

According to their website, it is shut for the foreseeable. Which I find surprising, as I would have thought most of their revenue came from delivery, I have only eaten in there once or twice in 10 years.

Couldn't agree more. Absolutely tiny portions for the same money as other places.

Lin Kee Swords is back open for deliveries and (mostly) all is alright with the world :D

The Patisserie in Applewood Village re-opened for collection only yesterday. One of my favourite places for a coffee and some lunch.

Fifty 4 Pizzeria and restaurant doing take away. Top class pizzas IMO. Went regularly (sit down) pre Covid 19. We have had several take aways since. You need to phone several hours before collection.

54 have an app....somehow it is on my phone. You can order through that.It has been reminding me every Wednesday around 5pm lately they do takeaway. (random)

Highly recommend. Their food is great. Also Olive and LA Bakery in Skerries are open again for takeaway. You can ring into Olive for your order if you don't want to queue (although I think they may be closed for a day off today)

Piccolo in Skerries is also still doing a ring in menu for Saturdays. And I got an order from Mud Bakery a few weeks ago, totally worth it for a major treat. Dropped on the door step, excellent service!

Yes, I love me some J2, their Sushi and Miso soup are great, also their Wok Fried Udon with steak, I have a very weak spot for it. Tonight is family quiz night on Zoom, I think this seals my food option! Thanks Telly and pinkypinky!

Got the meat platter for 2 from the grill house the other day. Got a dinner and lunch the next day out of it. Top notch as usual. Everyone please order food from them so they survive! It would be a shame to lose them due to Covid.

Aye my only issue with them is they used to use deliveroo for delivery and that seemed a bit out of their control, so food could turn up lukewarm, they also don't really throw in the same extras you get from dining in with their takeway. Its a cracking restaurant and I will definitely sling them some business, the BYOB is also a great thing for dine in, more restaurants should do it!

Unfortunately according to their Facebook page they are closing down the business, stating family issues.

Very sad but this is going to be the tip of the iceberg.

I think greedy landlords have a lot to answer for during the pandemic, Cafe Tara should have been offered a discount on their rent/lease by the landlord.

I would not buy anything from Rubys, never liked the set up, always felt rushed, bums on seats, in and out job. plus I have a source who said they dont treat their staff well, especially non Irish staff.

Mod note: kravmaga regrets that they mistakenly named Ruby's as being unfair to their staff. See post #100

I know a few of their staff and they are all there since the start so I would question your sources and suggest you get facts before negatively targeting a local business

I have to agree, it's owned by a local family who also own the Old Schoolhouse. They don't seem to have a high turnover of staff, and the staff come across as very happy and friendly around each other. The atmosphere is great, and we've never felt we were being rushed.

I like the vibe, the food is pretty mediocre at best though. I usually pop in before going to the cinema with the missus (back when the world was normal) and just share a starter and have a couple of cocktails of a Friday evening.

It's not gourmet food but it hits the spot now and then, and it's one of our favourite lockdown takeaways. We have it roughly once a month.

They do some things well, which is what you should focus on, and a lot of things quite poorly, like their Pizzas which should be avoided. I learnt my lesson the first few times I visited and tried a fair bit of the menu.

I'm so sad to hear this. I got a coffee and nice bottle of wine there last week but didn't see any signs. Their facebook page doesn't say if they're closed already or if there's still a chance to get one last visit.

I'd have to agree with the positive comments regarding Ruby's; we always enjoy the food and find it very consistent; we were just talking earlier about ordering over the weekend as we haven't done so in a few months.
As I (and others) have said before, their delivery is absolutely top notch - it's absolutely piping when it arrives - you'd think it was made next door! It's great to see they've expanded their online order choices too. Very strange comment about their staff too, I've always found them very pleasant; you'd usually be left under no illusions when staff are unhappy in Ireland these days!

    (I swear I don't work for them :p.)
