Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Advice/Opinion - Oil Boiler or Air to Water

I just bought a 4 bed semi. The boiler will need to be replaced after the winter (If it makes it through the winter).

The house was built in the 80s. OFCH, with open fire and back boiler. Rads in all rooms. I am weighing up my options in terms of heating the place. The windows/doors were replaced 10 years ago, are double glazed and in good shape per the guy who serviced them. Its a BER C3. Attic could do with replacement insulation, and I can pump the walls. I'm not sure about air tightness. But assuming I can get have a decent air tightness and maybe a C1/B BER, what would be the best option for heating....

    Air to water/Solar/Stove
    New condenser boiler/solar stove.

Or is there something else I should consider....

    Anyone with similar experience?

Cheapest will be condensing boiler with flow set to 70 so the return comes back at 50. Above 50 boilers don't condense.

Heat pumps need larger rads and lower temps to be efficient.
