Do you think I can still dive with a fractured wrist? I got in an accident (car related), and I found out that I got it fractured. The doctor said to ice it and what not and keep it in a splint for 3-5 days, then take it easy. Well, today is August 31, and they day my dad wants to take me diving is September 15. Does anyone think that I will be able to dive safely without hurting or breaking my wrist?

Right now it's hard for me to most things, like washing dishes and writing, since I'm right handed and my right wrist is the fractured one.

So any help would be greatly appreaciated, since my dad and I were really looking foward to going to this dive.
Its a treasure hunt, BTW, in Higgins Lake. Latur!

This is not a medical board.

Go back to your doctor after a week and see how things are. If you really want to go diving, you really need that hand. Try posting on the Scuba Diving board also.

Ok, I'm really sorry. I didnt see "NOT a medical board" thing. But it is a personal issue since its hindering me from doing what I want to do. Once again, I apologize I didnt see that at first.

You might want to ask a doctor about that for small details like pressure change and stuff. Although the wetsuit would probably do a good job of restricting your wrist's movement, splint stylee, Wetsuits are usually fairly tight around the wrists though, so it might be quite uncomfortable if your wrist is still tender.

Short answer. No you shouldn't dive.

Long answer. Your doctor is the one you should be asking.

I'll move this to the scuba section anyway.

Go see you're doctor and ask him. Nobody here, as far as I know, is medically qualified to give you an answer. Alternatively try one of these doctors as they all specialise in diving medicine:

    The answer is definitely NO

What if you have to get your buddy out of trouble, to perform a successful rescue in a real emergency you’ll not only need a cool well trained mind but every ounce of physical dexterity and strength you have.
