Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Does anyone know can the rotunda hospital give you details of a birth? I am trying to find out about my grandad we know he was born there but we think he was adopted, will they give us information? Thanks:)

    I don't have any specific experience of this. I would call them first and find out what they can and can't give out. I expect you'd need to assemble proof of relation via yours and your parent's birth certs. Adoption Ireland may be able to give you advice.

    Also, what does your grandfather's birth cert say? If you don't have it, you should really start there. If you read our sticky at the top of the forum, it explains how you can use the familysearch website to find the index reference for his birth and then how to order it from the General Register Office.

    I know there was a case in the media recently of a man who had been loooking for details about his mother.I can't remember the exact details but I know he was a grandfather himself so I would imagine with was before the official adoptions took place 1958. In the end I know that he took the maternity hospital to court as they were refusing him information on his mother and the court upheld the decision of the hospital. I'm not sure what kind of information the man was looking for but as pinky said, you should call the hospital and get the birth cert if you can. You could also try and find his baptismal cert too.
