    Just to continue the above discussion;
And they are saying it wasn't roughing the passer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,931 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

He's one tough man saying he didn't expect it to keep him out. It's very hard to know how long he'll be out with that. At his age it could be career ending, I hope it's not.

Isn't he done this year anyway?

Hopefully it doesn't end this way.

Sustaining an injury doesn't make the play a foul. Also this:
The three fractured ribs on the left side are believed to have occurred in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. They did not show up as such on the X-ray performed at the time, possibly because of inflammation, but they were clearly seen on the CAT scan performed Monday.

So he was obviously carrying some sort of injury heading into the game. None of which makes that roughing the passer call correct.

Was just going to say that, he was injured last week, the fractures didn't show up because of swelling around the ribs. The hit was grand, he is 6ft tall which is short for an nfl quarterback, it is the land of giants. What are you supposed to do, that would be a chest high hit on Cam Newton or Josh Allen, when I saw it, it was a sack, shouldn't be a penalty, don't know what all the fuss was about. There was no targeting his head, the sack was just a rush, and the helmets brushed each other, but the rusher didn't lower or raise his head, it was at that level all the way through the sequence. But it's the Saints, and they get lots of phantom calls, just like the Packers and Patriots.

I can't believe the bold has to be explained to anyone here, especially someone who earlier stated that your comment implied that 'you have watched very little football'.

If sustaining injury meant a team were given an automatic penalty in their favour, the 49ers would likely be undefeated based on the amount of free yards they would have gotten from the refs. :D

Jason Pierre Paul has a pile of fingers missing and he plays every week, think he got an interception yesterday, and one of them Griffin brothers for Seattle has only one hand, there are some tough cookies in that league.

Yeah that's a hell of a lot different to three fractured ribs in a heavy contact sport.

Nick Foles will have an interception beside his name already but it's Anthony Miller who caused the interception.
Bears D forced a fumble and the offense immediately give the ball back.

First Bill Lazor play is a WR screen and the 2nd is a throw to Miller who f*cks up again.

    Not the best start.

It's good to have a little continuity when making big changes. The offense will feel very much at home.

It's depressing how damn good our defense is and it's being wasted. They are just phenomenal, they belong in the super bowl, but they won't be within an asses roar of it.

If they press reset after this season we can say goodbye to the likes of Hicks, Mack and Fuller. They'll rip the defense apart for draft capital. Will be sad to see if it happens.

Lamar Miller looks a more sensible option in the backfield if you want to set up play action.

Yep, it was a defense set up to have a window to win. Easy to say now but, the right pick in 2017 and we would probably have done it.

Mike zimmer is furious, rightly so. Patterson has been doing alright tonight as our no 1 rb as well actually.

If we happen to nick a win here, the entire offense owes half their paycheck to the defense. And foles can give all of his. I've never seen such an imbalance in a team.

Only word I can think of to describe the Beats offense is atrocious.
I'm not sure if it's the players or the coaches though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,902 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

If you look crooked at some QBs it's a penalty. If you punch others in the head it's grand. No way that wasn't a penalty if it was rodgers or the like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,363 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

I hope NBC flex Bears/Packers out of SNF in 2 weeks because I can't stay up until 4am watching this offense again. I don't think they will though for ratings alone.

So many options to choose from. To be fair, the o line is a bunch of random lads because the starters and back ups all have covid and what have you. Running back is also out but he isn't that good. Our qb is useless. Good wide receiver group and graham is playing well this year.

Coaching and playcalling has been bad and the new play caller this week has done shag all to make me think he'll be an improvement.

    A f**king screen on 3rd and 5.

Please let this season end with us at 5-11. I'm done.

It's like nobody told them WHY they need to change the play caller. Why is playcalling such a mystery to the entire offensive coaching staff? If random schmoes at home are able to see straight away that your playcall is idiotic, and that your philosophy of "they won't expect it, therefore it's a good idea" is just "they won't expect it because it's stupid" for show learners, then you need to examine your hiring practices.

It's literally the worst offense I've ever seen. Worse than our 2004 one. It can't be far off being statistically the worst in the past 20 or 30 years.

Take away Patterson's return and we have 6 points. No team has scored less than 20 against the Vikes.

And now Foles looks hurt bad. Tyler Bray or Mitch might be back after the bye.

    Bears offense is so bad.

Most say Vikings offense was not exactly terrific and their running game was poor enough for most parts.

To be fair to the Vikings offense, they were playing the best defense in the league.

That defense happened to be carrying the worst offense in the league on their backs, though, so eventually they got tired. I think every bears fan did.
