    She's in my constituency and i have a son with severe autism, she won't be getting my vote anyway, not because of what she said, I don't have much of a problem with that, but because she was at the door the other night and could barely string a sentence together, hadn't a clue what to say when questioned on disability services and assessment waiting times, she's only in there to try ride on the coat tails of Richard Bruton who would be quite popular in the area.

    Autism has quite a wide range from severe to high function. They scale it from 1 to 5 at diagnosis.

    I know someone that has met Leo and interviewed him and he was what was described to me as socially awkward.

    My son has Autism, I'm not offended by her remarks, others may be, and I accept that, but there are some incredible people with Autism, and personally i dont think she meant it as any form of slur, rather, that he is perhaps.more socially awkward and has to work harder at it

    No he doesn't hate the working class. Hatred would show a higher degree of engagement. They just don't count for him.

    If you want to be pedantic then "spectrum" is also an 8 bit computer from the 1980s

    However in the context of autism it has the following meaning.

    She is being ripped a new one over on Twitter, looks like her career as a politican has crashed and burned in about 24 hours!

    She has about as much hope of winning the lotto as getting elected now and I doubt there will be a nice cushy seat in the Senate waiting for her this time round.

    Doesn't look like she would be much good as a solicitor either if she decided to go back to her old job seeing as she seems to be as thick as 2 short planks.

    Maybe it's because my daughter only received her diagnosis of ASD earlier this month, after over a two year wait for assessment and all the stress that goes with it, but her comments really upset me today.
    Fingers crossed that this wan will disappear up her own hole after failing to be elected again come February 8th.

    Leo is not autistic though he does display the traits of one being uncomfortable and unable to show real empathy.

    I think he is more of a sociopath, hes living in a racist country as a mixed race man and also a homosexual man in a catholic country. So in general he is uncomfortable being the leader in a country that has many prejudices and he is a lot of them.

    The guy is leading us but cant stand us really, a professional politician doing his time here to eventually reap the benefits in Europe where he can live it up with a huge pension from us !

    While there's undoubtedly racist people in this country, spending time in other European countries will highlight we're not too bad in that regard.
    As a whole I certainly wouldn't define Ireland as 'racist'.

    Also this was the first country to vote in favour of gay marriage. Yes others had enacted it well before Ireland through legislation, but it required a referendum here, and received a large majority from the electorate in favour of enabling it.
    There is also a large decline of those reporting as Catholic at every census.
    Catholicism is still very much the main religion in a country, but in truth it's no longer a Catholic country, and if anything the fact an openly gay man is Taoiseach of the country is evidence of that in itself.

    It's more likely that he is a psychopath (not that I am saying he is or isn't)

    I think that it is more subtle here, but that doesn't mean good.

    Foreigners are welcomed when they holiday here and spend money, but it's different when they stay, taking jobs etc.

    He loved sewing it into the British empire while licking europes hole and one has to wonder why?? India and GREAT Britain have horrible history and lets not get started on England and Ireland..make no mistake there's a loathing antipathy there for all things british.

    As far as the closer to home stuff, he must be thinking, thank got I'm gay, looking at the plethora of EX Apprentice gals he has rallied around him, falling off swings and slaggin the handicapped!! what a joke of a new era !!
