Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As the title suggest, who is the greatest of all time. I stole this picture from twitter. For me it has to be Arnie closely followed by Van Damme.

    Arnold hands down.
Everything that man touched turned to gold. Ermmm, well, with the exception on his house keeper.

Arnold for me. The first two Terminator movies are my favorite movies and really left an impression on me for good action flicks.

None of them are a patch on Kung Fu Joe:

    Arnie

    Terminator
    Predator
    COmmando
    Conan the Barbarian

I have a fondness of Sly Stallone
    Rambo First Blood
    Rambo First Blood Part II
    Rambo 3
    Cobra
    Tango and Cash
Plus you had Rocky 3 Escape to Victory all classics

    Arnold owned the 80s.

    Let off some steam, Bennett.

Just been looking online at some facts and figures of movies in the 80s and I thought Arnold would have been the biggest box office draw or there abouts. I mean his movies were huge and the 80s was the era of the action flick.

But none of his movies are in the highest grossing movies of the 80s actually. Neither is Stallone etc.

In fact, the biggest box office draw was Harrison Ford having 5 movies ranked out of the top 10. (The three indy movies, empire strikes back and return of the Jedi) I would not have guessed that.

Accordingly E.T. is the biggest earner of the 80s.

I loved Arnold so much when I was a kid and wanted to be him. Even Commando seemed like world class cinema to me in the 80s. Predator was electric and terrifying, I was disappointed at the time when he moved into more mainstream comedies etc.

    @BA Baracus:

His movies were mostly him killing scores of people in the 80s though, not family friendly blockbusters. And some were good but bad like Commando, Raw Deal, Red Heat.

The turn of the decade he got box office, terminator 2, Total Recall...

    Colonel John Matrix.

He eats Green Berets for breakfast, and right now he’s very hungry.

Bloodsport though. What a cracker of a movie. The good fights made up for the bad acting..

I'd go with Arnie but put Sly second...First Blood, Rambo(s), Cobra, Tango & Cash.

Good point, PG-13 movies are always the bigger earner.

    Sigourney Weaver/Ellen Ripley.

Out of all those characters (who I all love) she is the only one who has any depth or real story arc with the possible exception of First Blood era John Rambo. And she's a badass to boot in Aliens. Iconic.

An extremely close 2nd would have to be Arnie; he was born to play a Terminator and Predator is a total classic.

The Predator, tragically killed by that dirty cheating ape on his honourable mission.

You'd be thinking along the lines that Hannibal Lecter only ate people because he was hungry and there were no fast food joints close by?

    Stallone

    Rocky ,2,3,
    First Blood
    Escape To Victory
    Rambo 2
    Cobra
    Over The Top
    Lock Up
    Tango and Cash

If we are only talking 80#s then Stallone wins

Arine only had one good movie in the 80's How could he ever win.

If watching 80s JCVD movies has taught me anything, it's that I wouldn't like to be either his brother or a close friend. They always end up getting killed or maimed by the main antagonist.

He only ate people who wouldn't be missed and it's hard to find something to pair with a good chianti in the gourmet food wasteland he was living in.
As if he would be seen dead in a fast food joint.
