Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It is an excuse, just like homeless people were moved on from Windosr when a Prince married

or.....it makes economic sense as there will be a hugely increased demand for hotel rooms, which means prices will be going up.

Essentially this is saving the taxpayers money....

But whatever you want to get outraged over, carry on.

Moving the homeless out of Dublin should be a strategy anyway. There's plenty of room in Ireland, not so much in Dublin.

It’s what Jesus would have wanted.

Actually, no. He was all about the poor. Loved them he did.

He 'loved' all misfortunes and malcontents in the hopes of harnessing them for his zealot cause.

SF, AAA, and Co. aren't new in that respect.

Jaysus, Iaranroid Eaireann aren't great but I'd hardly call them cattle trains.

More employed now than there were in the 'Celtic Tiger' boom.

Maybe they could get jobs use the money to rent out places for themselves?

That's an outrageous suggestion. How dare you.

Lies, I tells ya. They're being shipped over to The England to have their homelessness there, quietly.

Didn't the army put up tents during the storms and snow last winter ? Can they not do that again and house the homeless and give them shelter ? Its surely not rocket science to get that organised ?

I admit I haven't costed this back of a fagpack plan properly nor got multiple quangos to produce reams of unreadable stating-the-obvious reports. Sorry if I was insensitive.

As a modest proposal - why don't we just eat the homeless?

    Sorry, classless joke.

This is what they did in Canada during the Games.

They took them out in buses to remote areas and dumped them with no resources
Oh they gave them the choice. Go or be put in prison . Of course many chose prison; " three hots and a cot."

Reading the actual article though, as opposed to the melodramatic header....

An d the Pope is no stranger to seeing the homeless so no worries there. Rome is full of them.

And surely this evacuation to make room for tourists happens every year?

I don't see the problem. It's not like they're being rounded up and put in concentration camps. They're going to be moved to hotels somewhere else briefly. Paying guests will use Dublin hotels generating more tax money some of which will benefit the homeless.

They're not going to be moved anywhere.
They have to make endless phonecalls to find somewhere to take them in. If they do find a place they have to take their kids out of school, move themselves and their belongings to another part of the city or country.
