Android back up

I have a Nokia 7 plus, which it is not rooted and at the moment I don't intend on doing so for the time being. So no hope of getting Titanium Backup on the phone. How thorough and reliant is the on phone back up if I were to do a factory reset and do a restore? Im toying with the idea for now.
