    Hi all,

Could anybody point me toward anywhere Parnell is looked down on by members of thw British establishment during his lifetime. I'm trying to make the point that even though he would have been considered to be near the top of the Irish contemporary power structure, he would still have been viewed as inferior by the British. I think there is something about him being looked down upon by his Cambridge contemporaries, but I don't have a reference for this. Would anybody be able to point me toward where I might find such a reference and to any other instances they can think of?

    Many Thanks,

    Mark.
