    What do you need to know? Which side of the m50? Do you rely on public transport for work? Will you need to think about schools?

    There’s a couple of big developments planned for Knocklyon which may affect you depending on which specific part you’re talking about. There’s plenty of residents groups and the Knocklyon Network on Facebook so they’re always a good place to start.

    There aren't many scummy areas in Knocklyon.

    Some parts of Knocklyon have next to no mobile coverage (e.g. my sister's house). Years ago, the Residents Association objected to the installation of a cancer-causing mast to resolve the problem, so the residents all have to put up instead with the cancer-causing rays from their phones desperately searching for a signal. :p

    Quite funny when we go as a family to visit the sister for the day/evening; then everyone's phone starts pinging at the same time on the way out of the estate with missed messages and calls! :D

    Primary and secondary school highly regarded. Old estates close to school and shops generally settled, safe and quiet. They're putting more and more housing estates up ballycullen way. Not sure if that's putting pressure on services / traffic or what they're like. Close to M50 if that's your thing. Transport to town abysmal. Busses hacking their way through every choke point; templeogue village, terenure village etc.

    Grew up in Knocklyon. Its a bit different now, but local schools are feeders for some very good secondary schools in the area. Scholarstown Rd has gone a bit mad...seems a lot worse since they narrowed an already narrow road..traffic is shocking at times.

    Having just moved to firhouse I would say good luck if you have kids in terms of school places and crèche! Everything is waiting lists here!
